And whereas the Whenuakura-Waitotara Road Board has laid before the Governor the memorial, accompanied by maps, and also the statutory declaration, required by the said Act and the amendments thereof:
Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by "The Public Works Act, 1882," and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto are hereby taken for the purposes of the construction of the said road.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable David, Earl of Glasgow; Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-fourth day of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-three.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the Mayor, Councillors, and citizens of the City of Wellington have, in pursuance of the powers vested in them by "The Cemeteries Act, 1882," and of all other powers, if any, enabling them in that behalf, laid out a road leading from Polhill's Gully to near the summit of Baker's Hill, with a view to affording a more convenient approach to a cemetery established by the said Corporation at Karori, in the County of Hutt: And whereas a part of such road occupies a portion of land vested in the said Corporation and held by it for waterworks purposes, and situated in the Borough of Melrose: And whereas the said Mayor, Councillors, and citizens have requested the Governor to proclaim the said portion of land to be a public road: And whereas the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Melrose have consented to the said portion of land being so proclaimed:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in him vested by section thirteen of "The Land Act, 1892," and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling him in that behalf, and with the consent of the Mayor, Councillors, and citizens of the City of Wellington, doth hereby proclaim and notify that from and after the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette the said portion of land, as described in the Schedule hereto, shall be and be deemed to be a road.

And whereas the Taranaki Education Board has laid before the Governor memorials, accompanied by maps, and also the statutory declarations, required by the said Act and the amendments thereof:
Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by "The Public Works Act, 1882," and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto are hereby taken for the purposes of the said work.
