THE following list of awards of the Royal Humane
Society of Australasia, granted in New Zealand during
the year 1892-93, is published for general information.

LIST OF AWARDS FOR THE COLONY OF NEW ZEALAND.

1176.—PETER EALAM, of Salt's Gully, Lyttelton, New
Zealand, a wharf-labourer, aged twenty-six years, who
rescued George Ayers, of Norwich Quay, Lyttelton, a hair-
dresser, aged fifty-five years, from drowning at Screw Pile
Jetty, on the 2nd April, 1892. Mr. Ayers fell off the end of
the jetty, and was drowning, when, on a dark night,
Mr. Ealam jumped in fully clothed, swam about 100 yards,
caught, and brought back Ayers in an unconscious state.
Bronze medal.

1177.—EDWARD MACKAY, of Napier Street, Auckland, New
Zealand, Water Police constable, aged thirty-five years, who
rescued Joseph Barber, of Victoria Street, aged six years,
from drowning at Queen's Street Wharf, Auckland Harbour,
on the 18th April, 1892. The boy fell off the wharf, and
Constable Mackay, fully clothed, jumped in and supported
him until a boat came and picked them up. Certificate of
merit.

1178.—THOMAS COULTER, of Princes Street, Christchurch,
New Zealand, a City Council driver, aged twenty-six years,
who rescued a little girl from drowning in the River Avon,
on the east side of the Colombo Street Bridge, on the
4th February, 1892. Mr. Coulter ran about 150 yards, and,
although he could not swim, jumped into about 8ft. of
water, and rescued the child. Certificate of merit.

1186.—THOMAS NICHOLSON CLARKSON, of Timaru, New
Zealand, Harbourmaster, aged fifty-five years, who rescued
John Irwin, of same place, a labourer, aged twenty-three
years, from drowning at Timaru Breakwater on the 10th
April, 1892. Irwin fell off the breakwater in a fit, and
Captain Clarkson immediately jumped in and supported
him until a line was passed round them, and they were
pulled ashore. Certificate of merit.

1188.—HENRY VAUGHAN DUGAN, of Wanganui, New Zea-
land, aged fifteen years, who rescued George McGregor, of
same place, aged six years, from drowning in the river at
Wanganui on the 22nd February, 1892. McGregor fell out
of a canoe, and was sinking for the second time when
Dugan, fully dressed, jumped in and brought him out.
Certificate of merit.

1197.—PETER LOUIS HAROLD, of Okahau, New Zealand,
aged fourteen years, who rescued Elijah Targett, of Thames,
aged forty-nine years, and George Edward Keys, of Thames,
aged fourteen years, from drowning in Wilson's Bay during
a stiff south-west gale on the 26th July, 1892. The two
rescued had been out fishing when their boat got capsized.
Harold, on seeing this, put off in teeth of the gale in a flat-
bottomed boat, and rescued them. Bronze medal.

1202.—THOMAS DONOVAN, of Tauranga, New Zealand, a
seaman, aged eighteen years, rescued George R. Gear, of the
same place, aged eight years, from drowning at the Town
Wharf, on the 22nd July, 1892, by jumping off the wharf
into the water and saving the boy, who had sunk twice.
There was a strong ebb tide at the time. Certificate of
merit.

New Electoral Rolls formed.

WHEREAS by "The Electoral Act, 1893," it is enacted
that upon new electoral rolls being formed every
Registrar of Electors shall give notice thereof to the Colonial
Secretary, who shall publish the fact in the Gazette:

Southland Runs Classified.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the Com-
missioners appointed in pursuance of section 189 of
"The Land Act, 1892," have reported to His Excellency the
Governor that the lands described in the Schedule hereto
have been classified by them as therein noted.

sively for Pasturage, and not capable of being used with
Profit in Areas of less than Five Thousand Acres.
