Section 2 will be burdened with £2, and Section 3 with £8, being the value of timber on same. Section 4, undulating ground, black soil with rock bottom, all old sawmill workings; height above sea-level about 100ft.; distance from Half-moon Bay about four miles and a half. Section 5, undulating ground, part old sawmill workings, remainder indifferent bush, black soil with rock bottom; height above sea-level about 200ft.; distance from Half-moon Bay about four miles and a half. This section will be burdened with £32, being value of timber on same. Section 6, undulating ground, all maiden bush of indifferent quality; height above sea-level about 200ft.; distance from Half-moon Bay about five miles. This section will be burdened with £50, being the value of timber on same.

Section 35, Block IV., Longwood District, covered with mixed bush of no commercial value, ground rather broken, soil chiefly black loam; height above sea-level from 200ft. to 400ft.; distance from Pahia Railway-station about two miles and a quarter. This section will be burdened with £25 for survey fees. Section 803, Hokonui District, all old sawmill workings, land broken and ridgy, soil thin; height above sea-level about 400ft.; distance from Centre Bush Railway-station about four miles and a half. This section will be burdened with £8 15s. for survey fees. Section 201, Oreti Hundred, all open land, about 20 acres first-class land, the balance useless peat-bog; height above sea-level about 200ft.; distance from Ringway Railway-station about four miles and a half. This section will be burdened with £4 13s. 4d. for survey fees. The survey fees in each of the above sections will go as part payment of the land.

Rural Lands in the Otago Land District open for Sale or Selection.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one hundred and thirty-sixth section of "The Land Act, 1892," I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the twenty-seventh day of December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-three; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any lands containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of "The Land Act, 1892."

When cleared, the approximate area in each section which will be fit for the plough is as follows: Section 9, 120 acres; Section 11, 150 acres; Section 12, 130 acres; Section 14, 100 acres; Section 15, 150 acres; and Section 16, 170 acres. The altitude of this country varies from 100ft. to 1,000ft., and the distance between the nearest section and Owaka is about seven miles and a half by formed road.

All mixed-bush land, well watered; altitude from 30ft. to 400ft. on Section 4, and from 400ft. to 900ft. on Section 17. On the former section about 70 acres, and on the latter about 150 acres, might be ploughed when cleared. Owaka Township lies about nine or ten miles distant by a formed road.

SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Poor open land, well watered. It is situated on a hillside, four miles and a half from Milton by a level road, and it is in the vicinity of the Akatore School. The section would suit for a working-man's home.
