Porirua Riding.—Commencing at the north-western boundary of Section 99, Block VIII., Paikakariki; thence in a southerly direction, following the shores of the Porirua Harbour and the sea-coast, to the north-western boundary of Section 99, Block III., Port Nicholson; thence along the northern boundary of the said section, and the western boundaries of Sections 74 and 75, and the southern boundaries of Sections 75 and 78, and the northern and eastern boundaries of Section 104, and the north-western and western boundaries of Section 54, and the northern boundary of Section 52, and the eastern boundaries of Sections 36 and 34, and the northern, eastern, and southern boundaries of Section 51, Block III., and the eastern boundaries of Sections 30 and 29, Block V., Port Nicholson, to the north-western boundary of the Borough of Karori; thence in an easterly direction, following the boundaries of the Boroughs of Karori and Onslow, to the northernmost boundary of the last-mentioned borough; thence following the north-eastern boundary of the said borough to the shores of Port Nicholson; thence in a north-easterly direction, following the said shores, to the Borough of Petone; thence following in a north-westerly direction the south-western, western, and northern boundaries of the said borough, to the southern boundary of Section 20, N.R., Block VIII., Belmont; thence following the western boundary of the said section, and parts of the western boundaries of Sections 24 and 115, and the southern and western boundaries of Section 80, and part Section 109, and part of the southern boundary of Section 309, and the southern boundary of Section 424, and the western and north-western boundary of Section 423, and the western boundary of Section 422, and part of the south-western and western boundaries of Section 321, and the western boundaries of Sections 322, 329, 330, and 331, Block VIII., Belmont, and the western boundaries of Sections 339 and 340, and part of the eastern boundary of Section 33, and the eastern boundaries of Sections 34 and 35, Block II., Belmont, to the southern boundary of the Horokiwi Riding, as previously described; thence in a westerly direction, following the said southern boundary, to the point of commencement.

Makara Riding.—Commencing at the sea-coast at the north-western boundary of Section 99, Block III., Port Nicholson; thence in a southerly and easterly direction, following the sea-coast, to the south-western boundary of Section 27, Block XIII., Port Nicholson; thence in a northerly direction, following the western boundaries of the said section, and Sections 25, 24, 22, 21, and part of Section 19, Block X., Port Nicholson, to the southern boundary of the Borough of Karori; thence in a westerly direction, following the southern and western boundaries of the said borough, to the southern boundary of the Porirua Riding; thence in a north-westerly direction, following the said southern boundary as previously described, to the point of commencement. And further commencing at the south-eastern corner of Section 8, Block XI., Port Nicholson; thence in a south-easterly direction following the sea-coast, and in a northerly and southerly direction the shores of Port Nicholson, to the north-eastern corner of Section 7, Block VII., Port Nicholson; thence in a southerly direction, following the eastern boundaries of said section and Section 8, Block XI., Port Nicholson, to the point of commencement.

Wainuiomata Riding.—Commencing on the shores of Port Nicholson at the north-western boundary of Section 20, Block XVI., Belmont; thence in an easterly direction, following the boundary of the said section, and the south-eastern boundary of the Borough of Lower Hutt, and the southern boundary of Section 41, Block XIV., Belmont, and the southern and eastern boundaries of Section 440, Block X., Belmont, and part of the southern and eastern boundaries of Section 439, and the south-eastern boundary of part Section 231 and Section 232, and the southern boundaries of Sections 277 and 280, Block X., Belmont, and the south-western and south-eastern boundaries of Sections 281 and 282, Block VIII., Rimutaka, and part of the south-western boundary of Section 64, Block VIII., Rimutaka, to the southernmost point of the last-mentioned section; thence due east in a straight line to the eastern boundary of the County of Hutt; thence in a southerly direction, following the said county boundary, to the sea-coast; thence in a westerly and northerly direction, following the sea-coast and the shores of Port Nicholson, to the point of commencement.

Epuni Riding.—Commencing at the south-western boundary of Section 41, Block XIV., Belmont; thence in a westerly direction, following the northern and eastern boundaries of the Borough of Lower Hutt, to the centre of the Hutt River; thence in a northerly direction, following the centre of the said river, to the boundary between the Belmont and Rimutaka Survey Districts; thence in a southerly direction, following the said boundary, to the north-western boundary of the Wainuiomata Riding previously described; thence in a westerly direction, following the last-mentioned boundary, to the point of commencement.

Mungaroa Riding.—Commencing on the north-western boundary of Section 85, Block IV., Belmont; thence in a northerly direction, following the centre of the Hutt River, to the eastern boundary of Section 4, Block VII., Akatarawa; thence in a northerly direction, following the eastern boundaries of part Section 4, Section 2, Block VII., Akatarawa, and Sections 6, 12, 11, 10, 9, Block III., Akatarawa, and a line in continuation thereof, to the southern boundary of the County of Horowhenua; thence in an easterly direction, following the said southern boundary, to the eastern boundary of the County of Hutt; thence in a southerly direction, following the said eastern boundary, to the northern boundary of the Wainuiomata Riding previously described; thence in a westerly direction, following the said northern boundary, to the eastern boundary of the Epuni Riding previously described; thence in a northerly direction, following the said eastern boundary, to the point of commencement.

Belmont Riding.—Commencing at the southern boundary of Section 115, Block VIII., Belmont; thence in a northerly direction, following the north-eastern boundary of the Porirua Riding previously described and part of the southern and eastern boundaries of the Horokiwi and Whareroa Ridings previously described, to the southern boundary of the County of Horowhenua; thence in an easterly direction, following the said southern boundary, to the western boundary of the Mungaroa Riding previously described; thence in a southerly direction, following the western boundaries of the Mungaroa and Epuni Ridings previously described, to the Borough of Lower Hutt; thence in a southerly direction, following the western boundary of the said borough, to the Borough of Petone; thence in a southerly direction, following the western boundaries of the last-mentioned borough, to the point of commencement. And further commencing at the south-western corner of Section 10, Block XIII., Belmont; thence in an easterly direction, following the shores of Port Nicholson, to the south-western corner of Section 11, Block XIV., Belmont; thence in a northerly direction, following the western boundary of said section, to the southern boundary of White’s Line; thence along the said boundary to the north-eastern corner of Section 8, Block XIII., Belmont; thence in a southerly direction, following the eastern boundary of said section, to the point of commencement.

  1. That from and after the date aforesaid one member of the said Council (including the Chairman) shall be allocated to and elected to represent each of the said ridings except the Porirua Riding, and two members shall be allocated to and elected to represent that riding.

Repealing Regulations fixing the Charges for Water supplied from the Mount Ida Water-race.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” I, Richard John Seddon, Minister for Public Works, do hereby repeal the regulations for use of the Mount Ida Water-race, dated the 13th day of July, 1893, and published in Gazette No. 56 of the same year; and in lieu thereof I do hereby prescribe that water shall be supplied from the said water-race in terms of the regulations under “The Mining Act, 1891,” issued on the 23rd December, 1891.

Notice of Intention to take Lands for the Victoria Valley Road.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” to execute a certain public work, to wit, the construction of portion of a road in Mongonui County, known as the Victoria Valley Road, and for the purposes of such public work the lands described in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken; and notice is further given that the plan of the said road and of the lands so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Victoria Valley and is there open for inspection.
