IT is hereby notified, in accordance with section 311 of "The Counties Act, 1886," that so much and such parts of the by-laws made by the Buller County Council, and sealed on the 5th day of June, 1893, as appoints the several sums to be paid to the county funds for the licensing of vehicles, has this day been approved by His Excellency the Governor.

Result of poll taken at Kahautara, in the Kahautara Ward of the Featherston Road District, on a proposal to raise a loan of £600 under "The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886," for the purpose of forming, &c., the Kahautara-Pukeo Road:—
Number of ratepayers on special roll, 6; number of votes which could be recorded, 13; number who voted for the proposal, 5; number of votes exercised, 9; number who did not vote, 1.
I therefore declare the proposal carried.

WAIROA COUNTY COUNCIL.
THE following is the result of a poll of ratepayers, taken under the provisions of "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886," on the 7th day of August, 1893, on the proposal to borrow a sum of £4,000 to erect a bridge over the Mohaka River, on the Napier-Wairoa Road:—
Number of ratepayers in the Wairoa County, 353, exercising 602 votes; number of ratepayers voting for the proposal, 179, exercising 357 votes; number of ratepayers voting against, nil.
As the number of ratepayers voting, and the number of votes recorded, for the proposal is in each case a majority of the total numbers on the roll, I therefore declare the proposal carried.

THE following is the result of a poll taken on the 18th August, 1893, on a proposal to borrow £600, under "The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886," for formation, metalling, and bridging about 150 chains of the Mangaramarama Road, commencing at the Tiraumea Road, and extending southward:—
Number of ratepayers on special roll, 8, representing 11 votes; votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 8, by 5 ratepayers; votes not recorded, 3.
I therefore declare the proposal carried.

THE following is the result of a poll taken at Opotiki on the 2nd day of August, 1893, and at Whakatane and Omaio on the 29th day of July, 1893, on a proposal to borrow £3,000 under the provisions of "The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886":—
Number of ratepayers on roll, 377, representing 454 votes; number of votes recorded for the proposal, 166; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 39.
The number of votes for the proposal not being more than one-half in number of the votes which can be exercised by the whole number of ratepayers, I declare the proposal rejected.
