A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS in the contract bearing date the third day
of August, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
eight, made between Her Majesty the Queen and the New
Zealand Midland Railway Company (Limited), it is, among
other things, provided that, subject to the conditions therein
contained, all lands within the limits of the authorised area
defined in the said contract shall be available for selection
by the company, with certain exceptions: And whereas
among such exceptions are included all lands which from
time to time, in the opinion of the Governor, are or may be
required for bona fide mining purposes and the several pur-
poses connected therewith or incidental or conducive thereto,
and which lands shall from time to time be set apart and
defined by Proclamation to be issued in that behalf; but
no more than ten thousand acres shall be so set apart or
proclaimed in one block at any one time, and the lands so
set apart and proclaimed from time to time shall not, in the
aggregate, exceed seven hundred and fifty thousand acres:
And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, the lands
described in the Schedule hereto, are required for bona fide
mining purposes and the several purposes connected there-
with, and the said lands are comprised in one block, con-
taining nine thousand nine hundred acres: And whereas
it is expedient the said land should be set apart and defined
by this Proclamation:
Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of
all powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf under
the hereinbefore-mentioned contract or otherwise, do hereby
proclaim and declare that the block of land defined and
described in the Schedule hereto is set apart under the
provisions of the said contract for bona fide mining purposes
and the several purposes connected therewith.
SCHEDULE.
BLOCK LI: All that area in the Nelson Land District,
situated in Reefton Survey District, containing 9,900 acres,
more or less. Bounded by a right line commencing at the
north-eastern corner of Section No. 15, Block II., Reefton
Survey District, and proceeding to Trig. Station HH, Reef-
ton Survey District; thence by a right line drawn in the
direction of Trig. Station G for a distance of 380 chains;
thence by a line running west to the eastern corner of
Section No. 50, Block VII., Reefton Survey District; thence
by the north-eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 50, 51, 52,
53, 55, and 56, Block VII., to the northern corner of the
last-mentioned section; thence by a line to the north-
eastern corner of Section No. 174, Square 131, Block II.,
Reefton Survey District; thence by a line to the south-
eastern corner of Section No. 7, Block II., and by the eastern
and south-eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 7, 5, 4, 1A, 16,
and 15 to the place of commencement: excepting from the
above-described area all freehold and leasehold sections and
reserves.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable David, Earl of Glasgow; Knight
Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of
Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and
Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government
House, at Wellington, this twenty-seventh day of
July, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and ninety-two.

Removal of Restrictions on Alienation of Native Land.
GLASGOW, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-
sixth day of July, 1892.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS application has been made to the Governor
in Council by Rotu te Paki, Tipene te Raro, Hone
Ngaukaka, Heeni Tipene, Raimapaha te Paki, Raita te
Paki, and Watarauhi te Paki, comprising a majority in
number of the Native owners of the land described in the
second column of the Schedule hereto, praying that the
restrictions on the alienation of such land contained in the
Crown grant, bearing date the nineteenth day of December,
one thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven, described in the
first column of the said Schedule, may be removed: And
whereas inquiry has been duly made by the Native Land
Court, and the said Court has reported that the provisions
of the law in that behalf have been complied with: And
whereas it appears expedient to grant such application:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Right Honourable
David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
conferred on him by "The Native Land Act, 1888," and
acting with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that all
restrictions imposed by the said Crown grant on the aliena-
tion of the said lands are hereby removed.
SCHEDULE.
FIRST COLUMN.
Particulars of Grant or Instrument containing Restrictions.
Crown grant No. 1407, W. 12,
page 162, dated 19th December, 1867, in favour of Tipene
te Raro, Hone Ngaukaka,
Maraea te Ua, and Heeni
Tipene, and containing the
following restrictions, viz.:
"Inalienable by sale, or by
lease for a longer period than
twenty-one years from the
making of such lease, or by
mortgage, except with the
consent of the Governor being
previously obtained to every
such sale, lease, or mortgage."
SECOND COLUMN.
Description of Lands.
All that parcel of land in
the City of Wellington,
known as Lot 22, Pipitea Pa,
containing 4 perches.

Extending Time for Preparation of Burgess Roll, Borough
of Picton.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-sixth
day of July, 1892.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS it has been made to appear that certain
things required to be done by "The Municipal Cor-
porations Act, 1886," in connection with the making and
revision of the burgess lists or rolls of the Borough of Picton
cannot be done by or within the time required by the said
Act:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers
and authorities vested in him by the said Act, and by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
said colony, doth hereby extend the time for the doing of the
said things in connection with the burgess lists or rolls of
the said Borough of Picton, and doth declare that the time
for the doing of such several things shall be those which are
specified in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.

  1. Sitting of the Council to determine claims and objections:
    Between the 1st August, 1892, and the 15th August, 1892.
  2. Burgess roll to come into force: On the 30th August,

    IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in me by
    "The Town Districts Act Amendment Act, 1883," I,
    David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New
    Zealand, do hereby increase the number of the Commis-
    sioners of the Town District of Hampstead to seven; such
    increase to commence from the general election of members
    to be held in September, one thousand eight hundred and
    ninety-two.
    As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
    this twelfth day of July, one thousand eight
    hundred and ninety-two.
