Rural Lands in the Taranaki Land District open for Sale or Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the third section of “The Land Act Amendment Act, 1887” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), I, James Prendergast, the Administrator of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection, after the lapse of a period of not less than forty-five days from the date of the first public notification hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, in the manner and upon the conditions mentioned in the said Act, and at the price per acre stated in the said Schedule.

About 75 acres agricultural terraces and low spurs, remainder broken, good pastoral land, all forest, principally tawa, with rimu, matai, rata, &c., moderately heavy timber, undergrowth light on terraces and heavy on hill-sides, soil rich and light, formed from papa, shell-rock, and sand, well watered by the Patea, which is accessible at several places.

There are two old Maori clearings about 30 acres, now overgrown with light bush, about 120 acres of terraces and flats of agricultural land, remainder good low spurs, pastoral land, forest and soil same as Section 1, well watered by Patea and Mangaehu Rivers.

The sections in the Omona District are situate about twelve miles from Eltham Railway-station by Mountain and Anderson Roads, formed for two miles as cart-road, remainder pack-track. The sum of £301 7s. has been included in price, to cover cost of making the Anderson Road as a cart-road.

Huiroa District: The hills are generally about 250ft. above the valleys, soil papa formation. The block is situated about eleven miles from the Midhirst Railway-station, by the Beaconsfield, Stanley, and Makara Roads, partly formed, and about twelve miles from Inglewood by the Junction, Kawau, and Motukawa Roads, nine miles of which are formed cart-road. The sum of £2,093 4s. 6d. has been included in the price, to cover cost of roading without metalling.
