TEMUKA DISTRICT.
All that area in the Canterbury Land District bounded towards the north by a line due east from the left bank of the Opuha River to the upper fork of the Kakahu River, in Section No. 20717, Block VI., Opihi Survey District; thence towards the east and again towards the north generally by the left bank of the said Kakahu River to the road forming the southern boundary of Section No. 8032, in Block XIII., Geraldine Survey District; thence by that road and its continuation past Section No. 8033, across the Haehae te Moana, and through Section No. 15372, Block IX., Geraldine Survey District, to Boundary Road; thence by the said Boundary Road to Geraldine Road; thence towards the south-west by the said Geraldine Road to the road at the south-eastern boundary of Section No. 15082, Block X., Geraldine Survey District; thence by the last-mentioned road to the Waihi River; thence across that river to the north-western corner of Section No. 11526, Block XIV., Geraldine Survey District; thence by the road which forms the north-eastern boundary of Section No. 11526 aforesaid and its continuation to the Great South Road; thence towards the north-west by the north-western side of the Great South Road to the Rangitata River; thence towards the north-east by the said Rangitata River to the sea; towards the south-east by the sea; towards the south-west by the right bank of the Opihi River to the north side of Three-mile Bush Road at the south-eastern boundary of Section No. 20125, Block XIII., Opihi Survey District; thence towards the west by the right bank of the said Opihi River to the confluence of that river with the Opuha River; and thence by the left bank of the said Opuha River to a point due west of the upper fork of the Kakahu River aforesaid, the place of commencement.
WAIMATE DISTRICT.
All that area in the Canterbury Land District bounded towards the north-east generally by the summit of the Hunter’s Hills from Mount Nimrod to Mount Studholme; thence by a right line to the source of the middle branch of the Makikihi River, and by the left bank of that river to the sea; towards the east by the sea; towards the south-west by the right bank of the Waitaki River from the sea to the mouth of the Otiake River; thence towards the west generally by the leading spur to Mount Meyer, and by the summit of the eastern watershed of the Hakateramea River to Mount Nimrod.
MOUNT COOK DISTRICT.
All that area in the Canterbury Land District bounded towards the north-west by the summit of the Southern Alps; towards the north-east generally by a straight line bearing S. 45° E. to the source of Forbes River; thence by the summit of the watershed over Mount Chevalier, Mount Sinclair, the Two-thumb Range, and Fox Peak to the source of the north branch of the Opuha River; thence by that branch and by the left bank of the Opuha River to the confluence of the latter river with the Opihi River; thence by the said Opihi River to the road forming the south-eastern boundary of Section No. 20125, Block XIII., Opihi Survey District, known as the Three-mile Bush Road; thence towards the south-east by that road to and through Block IV., Opawa Survey District, to the Tengawai River at Section No. 31984 of the said Block IV.; thence towards the south generally by the right bank of the said Tengawai River and the Mackenzie Stream to Mackenzie Pass; thence towards the south-east by the summit of Dalgety Range over Trig. Station B, Burke Survey District, and Trig. Station Z to Mount Dalgety; thence by the leading spur to the Hakateramea Pass; thence towards the south-west by the south-western side of the Hakateramea Pass Road to Burke’s Pass Road; thence again towards the south-east by the south-eastern side of Burke’s Pass Road to Stony Creek; thence by that creek to its confluence with the Waitaki River; thence towards the south by the Land District of Otago to the summit of the western watershed of the Ahuriri River; thence towards the west by the summit of that watershed over Mount Huxley to Mount Ward; and thence by the summit of the range leading to the Hunter Saddle.
KUROW DISTRICT.
All that area in the Canterbury and Otago Land Districts bounded towards the north generally by the Land District of Canterbury from the summit of the western watershed of the Ahuriri River to a point opposite the confluence of Stony Creek with the Waitaki River; thence by a right line to the said confluence; thence by the said Stony Creek and by Burke’s Pass Road to its junction with Hakateramea Pass Road; thence towards the east generally by the Hakateramea Pass Road to the Hakateramea Pass; thence by the summit of the eastern watershed of the Hakateramea River over Mount Dalgety and Mount Nimrod to Mount Meyer; thence by the leading spur to a point on the left bank of the Waitaki River opposite the confluence of the Otiake River with the said Waitaki River; thence towards the south-east generally by a right line to the mouth of the Otiake River;
thence by that river to its source; and thence by the summit of the range over Mount Domett and Kyeburn Hill to Mount Ida; and towards the south-west generally by the summit of the Hawkdun Range, the summit of the Wether Range, and the summit of the range leading to Lindis Pass, and over Longslip Peak, Pavilion Peak, and Birch Hill to the boundary of the Land District of Canterbury.
DUNTROON DISTRICT.
All that area in the Otago Land District bounded towards the north-east by the Waitaki River; towards the east by a line running due south from the confluence of the Maruwhenua River with the Waitaki River to the Kakanui River; towards the south-east generally by the Kakanui River and its northern branch to its source; thence by a right line to Kakanui Peak; towards the west generally by the summit of the Kakanui Mountains and the summit of the range over Maruwhenua Pass and Grayson Peak to Mount Domett; and thence towards the north-west by a right line to the source of the Otiake River, and by the left bank of the said Otiake River to its confluence with the Waitaki River.
And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall come into operation on the twentieth day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-two.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in the Governor by “The Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1875,” I, James Prendergast, the Administrator of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby abolish the existing registration districts known as the Timaru, Temuka, Waimate, Mount Cook, and Duntroon Districts; and do proclaim and declare that the territory heretofore comprised within the said districts is hereby divided anew into six registration districts, the names whereof shall be the Timaru, Temuka, Waimate, Mount Cook, Kurow, and Duntroon Districts, and the boundaries whereof shall be coterminous with the boundaries of the marriage districts bearing the same names as are set forth in a Proclamation of even date herewith, made under the provisions of “The Marriage Act, 1880.”
And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall come into operation on the twentieth day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-two.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS in the contract bearing date the third day of August, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, made between Her Majesty the Queen and the New Zealand Midland Railway Company (Limited), it is, among other things, provided that, subject to the conditions therein contained, all lands within the limits of the authorised area defined in the said contract shall be available for selection by the company, with certain exceptions: And whereas among such exceptions are included all lands which from time to time, in the opinion of the Governor, are or may be required for bona fide mining purposes and the several purposes connected therewith or incidental or conducive thereto, and which lands shall from time to time be set apart and
