years from the present year, of thirty-three fortieths of a
penny in the pound upon the values of the rateable property
included within the Kokotau Bridge Special Rating District,
—that is to say, upon the following properties: All those
lands situate in No. 8 Subdivision of the Taratahi-Carterton
Road District, occupied respectively by Messrs. James Snell,
Isaac Snell, Walter Blatchford, William Miller, James and
Robert A. M. Miller, John Martin, jun., Henry Robert
Bunny, Donald and Peter McLaren, Charles James Jury,
William Skeet, estate of Clapham deceased, Alexander Grant
by his manager John Grant (Sections 16 and 18, 588 acres,
only), and John Strang (Sections 24 and 28 and the eastern
half of Section 2, 697 acres, only), and the land situate in
No. 4 Subdivision of said road district, occupied by Joseph
Oates; all the foregoing being the properties enumerated in
the valuation-rolls now in force under Nos. W95—part 99 to
105, 110 to 120, part 121 to 128, 131 to 164, and 308 and 309;
and W93—182: such special rate to be payable to the Board’s
Collector annually on the 1st December, for the purpose of
paying the annual instalments or interest on a loan of
£2,500, raised under “The Government Loans to Local
Bodies Act, 1886,” for constructing the Kokotau Bridge and
roads connecting therewith.

I certify that the above special order has been duly made
as required by section 76 of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

1886,” and that the said Act be adopted generally.

I certify that the above resolution was passed at a special
meeting of the Puketapu Road Board, held this 20th day of

Board, is published in accordance with “The Road

SPECIAL ORDER made by the Kumeroa Road Board, at a
Meeting held on Saturday, the 29th August, 1891.

THAT the Kumeroa Road District be divided into five wards,
as follows:—

No. 1, Township Ward: Bounded towards the north by
the Otawhao Block; towards the east by Sections 1, 49, 6, 7,
8, 9, 10, 11, and 12, Block XIV., Tahoraite Survey District;
towards the south by Section 8, Block XIII., Tahoraite Sur-
vey District, the Woodville-Kumeroa Main Road; and
towards the west by the Manawatu River.

No. 2, River Ward: Bounded towards the north by No. 1,
Township Ward, Sections 5 to 12, Kumeroa Village, Block
VI.; towards the east generally by Sections 11, 17, 30, 29,
27, 26, and 25, Block XIII., Tahoraite Survey District;
towards the south by the Provincial District of Wellington;
and towards the west generally by the Manawatu River.

No. 3, Bridle-track Ward: Bounded towards the north by
No. 1, Township Ward, Blocks VII. and VIII., Kumeroa
Village, and Sections 1 and 2, Block IX., Tahoraite Survey
District; towards the east by Section 7, Block XIII., Sec-
tions 16, 17, 18, and 28, Block XIV., and Sections 1, 2, 3,
and 4, Block XVII., Tahoraite Survey District; towards the
south by the Wellington Provincial District; and towards
the west generally by No. 2, River Ward, Sections 5, 6, 7, 8,
and 9, Block IX., Woodville Survey District, and Sections
28, 16, and 12, Block XIII., Tahoraite Survey District.

No. 4, Totara Ward: Bounded towards the north-east
generally by No. 1, Township Ward, Sections 2, 25, and 4,
Block IX., Sections 12, 13, 14, 21, 22, 23, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33,
34, and 35, Block XIV., and Sections 6, 10, 11, and 12, Block
XVII., Tahoraite Survey District; towards the south by the
Provincial District of Wellington; and towards the west by
No. 3, Bridle-track Ward, Sections 1, 2 3, 4, 5, 6, and 9,
Block XIII., Tahoraite Survey District.

No. 5, Otawhao Ward: Bounded towards the north by the
Otawhao and Kaitoke Native Blocks; towards the east
generally by the Mangatoro Native Block and the Weber
Road District; towards the south by the Provincial District
of Wellington; and towards the west generally by No. 4,
Totara Ward, Sections 9, 8, 7, and 5, Block XVII., Sections
47, 46, 45, 44, 24, 20, 19, and 15, Block XIV., and Section 8,
Block XIII., Tahoraite Survey District, and No. 1, Township
Ward, Sections 4, 5, 6, and 7, Block IX., Tahoraite Survey
District.

I hereby certify that the above special order has been duly
made in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882,”
and that the foregoing description of boundaries has been
certified by the Chief Surveyor of the Hawke’s Bay Land
District.

INNER ROUTE TO TORRES STRAIT.—KHANDALLA SHOAL (OFF
CAPE SIDMOUTH).

NOTICE is hereby given that a rock with 13ft. of water on it
at low-water spring-tides has been discovered on the western
edge of Khandalla Shoal, where the least water was sup-
posed to be 18ft.

Official Correspondence for Certain Countries to be prepaid
by Postage-stamps.

General Post Office,
Wellington, 23rd November, 1891.

GOVERNMENT departments are notified that under
the Postal Union Convention it is laid down that
only official correspondence relative to the postal service,
and exchanged between postal administrations, is exempt
from the rule that correspondence should be prepaid by
means of postage-stamps. It is, therefore, obligatory that
all official correspondence, not on postal business, for coun-
tries excepting the United Kingdom, Australian Colonies,
and British possessions, shall be prepaid by postage-stamps.
This regulation is to be brought into operation forthwith,
and will be applied to correspondence intended to go forward
by the San Francisco mail leaving Auckland on the 5th
proximo.

Hereafter, official correspondence not stamped as required
by the Postal Union regulations will not be forwarded, but
returned to the senders.
