Great Barrier Island.—Parish of Harataonga.

All that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District, situate in the Parish of Harataonga, and containing approxi-
mately 180 acres. Bounded towards the north generally by the sea; towards the east by Section 7 of the Parish of
Harataonga; towards the south-west by a right line from the south-western angle of the last-named section to the
southern angle of Section 10 of the same parish; and towards the north-west by Section 10 aforesaid to the point
of commencement.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the third section of “The Land Act
Amendment Act, 1887” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is
provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection,
after the lapse of a period of not less than forty-five days from the date of the first public notification hereof, in the
manner and upon the conditions mentioned in the said Act, and at the price per acre stated in the said Schedule.

These sections comprise broken hilly country of papa formation, covered with mixed bush including birch, kahikatea,
rimu, matai, maire, rewarewa, some totara and rangiora, and on Sections 299 and 300 light manuka scrub. The soil is
fair and the country well watered.

These sections comprise some fairly level and rough mountainous country covered with mixed bush. The soil is poor
to fair.

The access to the above land is by a metalled dray-road from the Carterton Railway-station, via Gladstone, to Cooper's
Station, about nineteen miles, and thence by unformed surveyed roads.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fourth day of November, one thousand eight
hundred and ninety-one.

These sections are situated on the south-eastern side of the Main South Railway, about one and a half miles south-
west from Rolleston Station, and comprise stony land of inferior quality.

This section is situated at the junction of the Burnham, Selwyn, and Coal Tramway Roads, about one and a half miles
south-east from Burnham Railway-station, and comprises poor shingly land.

This section is situated on No. 1 Creek, about three and a half miles south-east of Springston Railway-station, and
comprises land of superior quality, part of which is subject to floods.

Broken clay land, open and light mixed forest ; on coast south of Whangapoua Creek, east coast of Great Barrier
Island. Cash price, 5s. an acre.
