"The Land Act, 1885," I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the sections of land described in the Schedule hereto shall be and the same are hereby set apart and declared open for application as village homesteads for perpetual leasing, upon the terms and conditions fixed by an Order in Council issued on the twenty-seventh day of February, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one, and made under the one hundred and sixty-third section of the said Act.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, of Onslow in the County of Salop; Viscount Cranley, of Cranley in the County of Surrey; Baron Onslow, of Onslow in the County of Salop, and of West Clandon in the County of Surrey; Baron Cranley, of Imbercourt; Baronet; Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-eighth day of August, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the two hundred and sixty-seventh section of "The Counties Act, 1886," and at the request of the Wairarapa South County Council, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare the land described in the Schedule hereto to be a water-race, as defined by the two hundred and sixty-sixth section of the said Act, to be known by the name of the Tauherenikau Water-race; and, further, that the Tauherenikau River, in the County of Wairarapa South, shall be the stream which may be taken for supplying the said water-race.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area, 15 links in width, situate in the Featherston Township Block, Waiohine Survey District, County of Wairarapa South, commencing at a point on the north-western boundary-line of Section No. 80 about 840 links distant from the northernmost corner of that section; and proceeding in a south-easterly direction, generally intersecting the said Section No. 80 and Section No. 76, to a creek kown as Cave's Creek, in the latter section.

ALL that area, 15 links in width, situate in the Wharekaka Block, Huangarua and Waipawa Survey Districts, County of Wairarapa South, commencing at Dry River at a point about two chains distant from the south-western corner of Section No. 90, Waipawa Survey District; and proceeding in a generally north-easterly direction, intersecting the said Section No. 90 and Sections Nos. 11, 10, 36, 32, and 4, Huangarua Survey District, to the East Coast Road.
