waireka Streams, and by Section No. 1 and part of Section
No. 886, Rewa District; towards the east generally by Sec-
tions Nos. 887, 893, 892, 894, part of Sections Nos. 899, 900,
and 902, Rewa Survey District, and Section No. 782, Kaiwhata
District; towards the south-west by Te Maipi Block; and
towards the west generally by Piripi Block, Section No.
80, Rewa District, Harawira Block, and Sections Nos. 674
and 672, Rewa District.

To be divided into six runs, containing respectively 1,430
acres, 3,150 acres, 1,200 acres, 1,890 acres, 1,700 acres, and
1,320 acres.

Also all that area in the Land District of Wellington, con-
taining 4,900 acres, more or less, situated in the Wainuioru
and Kaiwhata Survey Districts. Bounded towards the north
by Section No. 2, Block IV., Wainuioru District, and Section
No. 3, Block I., Kaiwhata District; towards the east by the
Kaiwhata Creek; towards the south by Section No. 4, Block
IV., Kaiwhata District, and Section No. 1, Block VIII.,
Wainuioru District; and towards the west generally by
Sections Nos. 4, 6, and 7, Block VIII., Wainuioru District,
and Sections 131, 147, and 146, Block IV., Wainuioru
District.

To be divided into three runs, containing respectively 1,100
acres, 2,240 acres, and 960 acres.

Onslow in the County of Salop; Viscount Cranley,
of Cranley in the County of Surrey; Baron

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon
me by the one hundred and sixty-second section of
"The Land Act, 1885," I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby pro-
claim and declare that the lands described in the Schedule
hereto shall be and the same are hereby set apart and
declared open for application as village homesteads for
perpetual leasing, upon the terms and conditions fixed by
an Order in Council issued on the twenty-seventh day of
February, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one, and
made under the one hundred and sixty-third section of the
said Act.


SCHEDULE.

OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.

ALL that area situated in the Woodland Survey District,
containing 1,970 acres, more or less, being parts of Blocks VII.
and X. Bounded towards the north-east by a bush reserve
and the Purakaunui River; towards the east generally by a
road-line; towards the south-west by a right line drawn
from the Waitangi Stream to the Catlin's-Waikawa Road;
towards the south-east by the Catlin's-Waikawa Road;
towards the west by Block VI.; and towards the north by a
right line.

All that area situated in Woodland and Tautuku Survey
Districts, at the mouth of Isa's Creek, containing 500 acres,
more or less. Bounded towards the north-east by Section
No. 10, Block III., Tautuku District, and Section No. 1,
Block IX., Woodland District; and towards the south by
the sea.

A square block of land in the Tautuku Survey District,
containing 500 acres, more or less, situated where the Cat-
lin's-Waikawa Road crosses the right-hand branch of the
Chasland River.

All that area in Blocks I. and VII., Catlin's Survey Dis-
trict, situated on the Catlin's River, containing 500 acres,
more or less. Bounded towards the south by Woodland
District; towards the west by a right line starting 40 chains
west of Block I., Catlin's District, and running due north for
50 chains; towards the north by a right line at right angles
to the last-mentioned line, 100 chains; and towards the east
by a right line running due south to Block VIII., Catlin's
District.

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.

A block of land in the Waikawa Survey District, contain-
ing 300 acres, more or less, situated where the Catlin's-
Waikawa Road crosses Long Beach Creek.

All that area situated in Block VII., Waikawa Survey
District, containing 500 acres, more or less. Bounded
towards the west by Sections Nos. 12 and 16, said Block VII.;
towards the north by a right line, about 80 chains; towards
the east by a right line, about 62½ chains; and towards the
south by a right line, about 80 chains.

Section No. 6, Block VII., Waikawa Survey District, con-
taining 301 acres 2 roods 38 perches.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-
seventh day of February, 1891.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto
is required to be taken for a public work, to wit, the
construction of a lighthouse and other works in connection
therewith:

And whereas the said land is held or occupied by Native
owners, and the title thereto is not derived from the Crown:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and the
amendments thereof, and of all other powers in anywise
enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Right
Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth
hereby order that the public work hereinbefore mentioned
shall and may be constructed on the land mentioned in the
Schedule hereto.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that area of land containing 370 acres or thereby,
situated at the northern entrance to Cook Strait, and lying
in a north-eastern direction from Cape Stephens, D'Urville
Island, being the whole of that island commonly known as
Stephen Island or Takaporewa; which said Island of Taka-
porewa is one of the islets enumerated in the description and
delineated on the plan embodied in certificate of title No.
52, dated the 20th November, 1883, issued by the Native
Land Court of New Zealand, at a Court held at Nelson, in
the Provincial District of Nelson, on the said 20th November,
1883; all in the D'Urville Survey District, in the said Pro-
vincial District of Nelson: as the same is more particularly
delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 16720, deposited in
the office of the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington,
in the Provincial District of Wellington, and thereon coloured
red.
