Proclaiming Borough of Sumner, County of Selwyn, under
“The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886.”

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,”
the Governor is empowered, by Proclamation, to
declare any portion of the Colony of New Zealand to be a
borough under the said Act from and after a day to be
named in such Proclamation:
Now, therefore I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and
exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the
said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the district
described in the Schedule hereto shall be, and the same is
hereby constituted as from the first day of June, one thousand
eight hundred and ninety-one, a borough under the said Act.
And I do further proclaim and declare that the name
of such borough shall be the Borough of Sumner, and that
the boundaries thereof shall be those described in the
Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Provincial District of Canterbury,
situated in the Survey Districts of Christchurch, Sumner,
and Pigeon Bay, bounded towards the north-east by the
Estuary of the Heathcote and Avon Rivers, and by the
ocean from a point due north to the northernmost corner of
Section No. 866, Block XVI., Christchurch Survey District,
to Godley Head; thence towards the south generally by
Lyttelton Harbour to the Borough of Lyttelton; thence
towards the west and south-west generally by the said
Borough of Lyttelton to the Mount Pleasant Road, near the
south-western corner of Section No. 274A, Block II., Sumner
Survey District; thence by the eastern side of the said
Mount Pleasant Road to the Christchurch and Sumner
Road; thence by that road to the northernmost corner
of Section No. 866 aforesaid; and.thence by a line due north
across the said Christchurch and Sumner Road to the
Estuary of the Heathcote and Avon Rivers.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by section two hundred and forty-seven of
“The Land Act, 1885” (hereinafter termed “the
said Act”), it is enacted that whenever the Governor is
satisfied that any Native lands acquired by Her Majesty in
any way, or purchased out of any sums authorised, or to be
authorised, to be issued and expended in the purchase of
lands in the North Island of New Zealand are free from
Native claims and all difficulties in connection therewith,
he shall, by Proclamation, declare such lands to be Crown
lands, subject to be sold and dealt with as in the said Act
is more particularly mentioned: And whereas the lands
hereinafter mentioned have been purchased out of sums so
authorised to be issued and expended as aforesaid:
Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, being satisfied
that the lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto are free
from Native claims and all difficulties in connection there-
with, do hereby, in pursuance and exercise of the power and
authority vested in me by the said Act, proclaim and declare
the lands so enumerated as aforesaid to be Crown lands,
subject to be sold and dealt with according to the provisions
of the laws regulating the sale and disposal of Crown lands
in force in the land districts in which they are respectively
situated.
SCHEDULE.
Lot 1 of Section 115, Mangahao Survey District.—Con-
taining 50 acres, being the whole of the land comprised in
certificate of title, Vol. lvii., folio 220, of the Register-book
of the Wellington District.
Lot 3 of Section 115, Mangahao Survey District.—Con-
taining 50 acres, being the whole of the land comprised in
certificate of title, Vol. lvii., folio 222, of the Register-book
of the Wellington District.
Lot 4 of Section 115, Mangahao Survey District.—Con-
taining 50 acres 1 rood 20 perches, being the whole of the
land comprised in certificate of title, Vol. lvii., folio 223, of
the Register-book of the Wellington District.
Lot 8 of Section 115, Mangahao Survey District.—Con-
taining 50 acres, being the whole of the land comprised in
certificate of title, Vol. lvii., folio 232, of the Register-book of
the Wellington District.
Lot 9 of Section 115, Mangahao Survey District.—Con-
taining 51 acres 2 roods 24 perches, being the whole of the
land comprised in certificate of title, Vol. lvii., folio 226, of
the Register-book of the Wellington District.
Lot 11 of Section 115, Mangahao Survey District.—Con-
taining 50 acres, being the whole of the land comprised in
certificate of title, Vol. lvii., folio 228, of the Register-book
of the Wellington District.
Lot 12 of Section 115, Mangahao Survey District.—Con-
taining 50 acres, being the whole of the land comprised in
certificate of title, Vol. lvii., folio 229, of the Register-book of
the Wellington District.
Lot 13 of Section 115, and Section 116, Mangahao Survey
District.—Containing together 50 acres, being the whole of
the land comprised in certificate of title, Vol. lvii., folio 230,
of the Register-book of the Wellington District.

A PROCLAMATION.
BY virtue and in exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in me by the one hundred and ninety-seventh
section of “The Land Act, 1885,” and of every other power
and authority enabling me in that behalf, I, William
Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby declare that the lands mentioned
in the Schedule hereto shall be subject to the provisions of
sections one hundred and ninety-eight to two hundred and
nineteen of Part VII. of “The Land Act, 1885,” relating to
small grazing runs.
SCHEDULE.
WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—REWA AND KAIWHATA SUR-
VEY DISTRICTS.
ALL that area in the Land District of Wellington, contain-
ing by admeasurement 10,190 acres, more or less, being
parts of Rewa and Kaiwhata Survey Districts. Bounded
towards the north generally by the summit of the watershed
