SCHEDULE.
EAST WARD.

All that portion of the Borough of Masterton bounded towards the north-east generally by the right bank of the Waipoua River, from the Waipoua Bridge to the eastern side of Columba Road; thence towards the east by the eastern side of that road to Kuripuni Stream; thence towards the south by the said Kuripuni Stream to the middle of Queen Street; and thence towards the west by a line along the middle of the said Queen Street to the Waipoua Bridge aforesaid.

WEST WARD.

All that portion of the Borough of Masterton bounded towards the north-east generally by the right bank of the Waipoua River, from the south-eastern boundary-line of portion of the Akura Block to the Waipoua Bridge; thence towards the east by East Ward, hereinbefore described; towards the south-east by Kuripuni Stream to Railway Road; thence towards the north-west generally by a line along the middle of the said Railway Road to a point in line with the southern boundary-line of Section No. 31, Masterton Small-farm Block; thence by a right line to the south-western corner of that section; thence by Section No. 31 aforesaid to Waipokaka Stream; thence by the Ngaumutawa Block, Bishop’s Reserve, and the Akura Block aforesaid to the right bank of the Waipoua River, opposite Section No. 63.

OUTER WARD.

All that portion of the Borough of Masterton not included within the boundaries of East Ward and West Ward, hereinbefore described.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one hundred and sixty-second section of “The Land Act, 1885,” I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the sections of land described in the Schedule hereto shall be and the same are hereby set apart and declared open for application as village homesteads for perpetual leasing, upon the terms and conditions fixed by an Order in Council issued on the twenty-seventh day of February, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one, and made under the one hundred and sixty-third section of the said Act.

Native Land proposed to be taken for a Lighthouse on Stephen Island.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-seventh day of February, 1891.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken for a public work, to wit, the construction of a lighthouse and other works in connection therewith:

And whereas the said land is held or occupied by Native owners, and the title thereto is not derived from the Crown:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and the amendments thereof, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Right Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that the public work hereinbefore mentioned shall and may be constructed on the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area of land containing 370 acres or thereby, situated at the northern entrance to Cook Strait, and lying in a north-eastern direction from Cape Stephens, D’Urville Island, being the whole of that island commonly known as Stephen Island or Takaporewa; which said Island of Takaporewa is one of the islets enumerated in the description and delineated on the plan embodied in certificate of title No. 52, dated the 20th November, 1883, issued by the Native Land Court of New Zealand, at a Court held at Nelson, in the Provincial District of Nelson, on the said 20th November, 1883; all in the D’Urville Survey District, in the said Provincial District of Nelson: as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 16720, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

Changing the Purpose of a Reserve in Canterbury.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this ninth day of April, 1891.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the first column of the Schedule hereto was reserved for a gravel-pit: And whereas the said reserve is for one of the purposes comprised in Class I. of the Schedule to “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” and, in the opinion of the Governor, it is expedient to change the purpose of such reserve:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by section four of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” and section two of “The Public Reserves Act Amendment Act, 1889,” and with the consent of the Courtenay Road Board, in whom the said land is vested, doth hereby order and direct that the purpose of the reserve mentioned in the first column of the Schedule hereto shall be changed from the purpose specified to that specified in the second column of the Schedule hereto.
