Traffic-bridge, and the approaches on each side thereof,
situated on the Great North Road leading from Auckland,
partly in the County of Rodney and partly in the County of
Otamatea, in the Provincial District of Auckland; as the
same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 12326, deposited
in the General Survey Office, at Wellington, in the Provin-
cial District of Wellington, and thereon marked in red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, of
Onslow in the County of Salop; Viscount Cranley,
of Cranley in the County of Surrey; Baron Onslow,
of Onslow in the County of Salop, and of West
Clandon in the County of Surrey; Baron Cranley,
of Imbercourt; Baronet; Knight Grand Cross of
the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael
and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, at Wellington, this nineteenth day
of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and ninety-one.

Vesting Control of the Manawatu Gorge Bridge in Pahiatua
County Council.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section four of “The Public Works Acts
Amendment Act, 1887” (hereinafter termed “the
said Act”), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor may,
upon the terms and conditions in the said section men-
tioned, by Proclamation publicly notified, direct that any
bridge already constructed, or which may hereafter be
constructed, over or across any river or arm of the sea
respectively, shall, from and after a date to be fixed in such
Proclamation, be under the exclusive care, control, and
management of such local authority as shall be mentioned
in that behalf in such Proclamation :

And whereas it is expedient that the control and manage-
ment of the bridge described in the Schedule hereto should
be vested in the manner hereinafter described :

Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by the
said Act, and of every other power and authority in any-
wise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby direct that the
bridge mentioned in the Schedule hereto, and known as
the Manawatu Gorge Bridge, shall, from and after the first
day of April, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one, be
under the exclusive care, control, and management of the
Pahiatua County Council; and I do hereby fix and determine
that the Pahiatua County Council shall itself provide out of
its own funds the whole of the cost of managing and main-
taining the said bridge.

SCHEDULE.

THAT bridge over the Manawatu River known as the Mana-
watu Gorge Traffic-bridge, and the approaches on each side
thereof, situated on the road leading from Woodville to
Palmerston North, partly in the County of Waipawa and
partly in the County of Pahiatua, in the Provincial Districts
of Hawke’s Bay and Wellington respectively; as the same is
delineated on the plan marked S.G. 11620, deposited in the
General Survey Office, at Wellington, in the Provincial Dis-
trict of Wellington, and thereon marked in red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right

County Council.

mine that the Ashburton County Council shall itself provide
out of its own funds one-half of the cost of managing and
maintaining the said bridge; and that the Selwyn County
Council shall, on demand in writing from time to time from
the Ashburton County Council, pay to the said Council one-
half the cost of managing and maintaining the said bridge.

SCHEDULE.

THAT bridge over the Rakaia River known as the Rakaia
Gorge Traffic-bridge, and the approaches on each side thereof
(including the flood-channel bridge), situated on the line of
road which traverses Section No. 247 (Ferry Reserve), Fight-
ing-hill Survey District, County of Selwyn, and Section
No. 10167, Hutt Survey District, County of Ashburton, all
in the Provincial District of Canterbury; as the same is
delineated on the plan marked S.G. 12069, deposited in the
General Survey Office, at Wellington, in the Provincial Dis-
trict of Wellington, and thereon marked in red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right

Division of the Borough of Masterton into Three Wards.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,”
section twenty-seven, it is enacted that, if not less
than one-fourth of the burgesses of a borough petition the
Governor praying him to divide such borough into wards,
the Governor may, by Proclamation, divide such borough into
not more than six wards, and shall in such Proclamation
assign such names and boundaries to each ward as he thinks
fit : And whereas not less than one-fourth of the burgesses
of the Borough of Masterton have petitioned me to divide
such borough into wards :

Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance of
the hereinbefore recited authority, do hereby proclaim and
declare that the Borough of Masterton shall be and the
same is hereby divided into three wards, with the names
and boundaries set forth in the Schedule hereto.
