Shooting Season for Imported Game, License-fee, &c.,
Wellington District.
ONSLOW, Governor.
In exercise of the powers vested in me by "The Animals
Protection Act, 1880," and the Acts amending the
same, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that cock-
pheasants, Californian quail, and hares may be taken or
killed within the Wellington District, consisting of the
Counties of Hutt, Wairarapa North, Wairarapa South,
Pahiatua, Horowhenua, Oroua, and Manawatu, together
with all town districts and boroughs therein, from the first
day of May one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one, to
the thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and
ninety-one, both inclusive (subject nevertheless to the re-
strictions in the said Acts mentioned). And I do further
notify that licenses to take or kill such game within the said
district shall be issued on payment of the sum of twenty
shillings each, and that licenses to sell game and native
game shall be issued on payment of the sum of five pounds
each; and the Chief Postmaster at Wellington, and the
Postmasters at Palmerston North, Feilding, Ashurst, Wood-
ville, Pahiatua, Masterton, Carterton, Greytown, Feather-
ston, and Upper Hutt, are hereby appointed to sign and
issue the said licenses.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this eleventh day of March, one thousand eight
hundred and ninety-one.

ONSLOW, Governor.

I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that hares may be
taken or killed within the Grey District, consisting of the
County of Grey, from the first day of April, one thousand
eight hundred and ninety-one, to the thirtieth day of June,
one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one, both days
inclusive (subject nevertheless to the restrictions in the said
Acts mentioned); and I do further notify that licenses to
take or kill such game within the said district shall be
issued on payment of the sum of twenty shillings each,
and that licenses to sell game and native game shall be
issued on payment of the sum of five pounds each; and
the Chief Postmaster at Greymouth is hereby appointed to
sign and issue the said licenses.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this eleventh day of March, one thousand eight
hundred and ninety-one.

Black Swans to be Game in Westland.
ONSLOW, Governor.
WHEREAS by a notification dated the eighth day of
December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety,
and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the eleventh
day of December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety,
it was declared that black swans should cease to be within
the operation of "The Animals Protection Act, 1880," within
the Colony of New Zealand: And whereas it is expedient to
revoke the said notification so far as the operation thereof
obtains within the Provincial District of Westland:
Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance of the
powers vested in me by "The Animals Protection Act, 1880,"
and its amendments (hereinafter termed "the said Acts"), do
hereby declare that within the Provincial District of West-
land black swans (Cygnus atratus) shall, from and after the
date hereof, come within the operation of the said Acts as
fully and effectually as if they had never been withdrawn
from such operation.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this eleventh day of March, one thousand eight
hundred and ninety-one.

the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that cock-

within the Geraldine County District, consisting of that
part of the County of Geraldine lying north of the Opihi
River, from the first day of May, one thousand eight hundred
and ninety-one, to the thirtieth day of June, one thousand
eight hundred and ninety-one, both inclusive (subject never-
theless to the restrictions in the said Acts mentioned). And
I do further notify that licenses to take or kill such game
within the said district shall be issued on payment of the
sum of twenty shillings each, and that licenses to sell game
and native game shall be issued on payment of the sum of
five pounds each; and the Postmaster at Temuka is hereby
appointed to sign and issue the said licenses.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this eleventh day of March, one thousand eight
hundred and ninety-one.
