Proclaiming Borough of Lower Hutt, County of Hutt.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,”
the Governor is empowered, by Proclamation, to
declare any portion of the Colony of New Zealand to be a
borough under the said Act from and after a day to be named
in such Proclamation:
Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the
Governor of the said Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance
and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by
the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the
district described in the Schedule hereto shall be, and the
same is hereby constituted, as from the first day of February,
one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one, a borough under
the said Act; and I do further proclaim and declare that the
name of such borough shall be the Borough of Lower Hutt,
and that the boundaries thereof shall be those described in
the said Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Provincial District of Wellington, situate
in the Belmont Survey District, bounded towards the north-
east by Section No. 49, Block IX., from its westernmost
corner to the road leading to the Upper Hutt; thence by a
right line across that road, and again by the said Section
No. 49 to Section No. 47 of the said Block IX.; thence
towards the north-west by Section No. 49 aforesaid to Section
No. 50 of the said Block IX.; thence again towards the
north-east by the said Section No. 50 to Subdivision No. 6A
of original Section No. 47, Block IX., containing 10 acres
2 roods; thence towards the east and again towards the
north-east by the said Subdivision No. 6A to Subdivision
No. 6 of the said Section No. 47; thence towards the south-
east by the said Subdivision No. 6 to Subdivision No. 5 of
Section No. 47 aforesaid; thence towards the south-west
and again towards the south-east by the said subdivision
No. 5 to the road which forms its southern boundary;

No. 21, Block XIV.; thence again towards the south-east
generally by the said Section No. 21 and Section No. 16 of
the said Block XIV.; thence towards the south by Sections
Nos. 21 and 20 of Block XVI. to Port Nicholson; thence
again towards the south-west by the waters of Port Nicholson
to the eastern branch of the Hutt River (the Okōutu);
thence towards the west by the left bank of the said eastern
branch of the Hutt River to the southern side of White’s
Road; thence again towards the south-west by Sections Nos.
9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, and 3 of Block XIII.; again towards the
north-west by Section No. 79 of the said Block XIII., by a
block of Native land containing 1,296 acres, and by Sections
Nos. 115 and 186 of Block VIII.; again towards the north-
east by the last-mentioned section and Section No. 37 of
Block IX; again towards the north-west by the said Section
No. 37 to the Western Hutt Road; thence by a right line
across that road to the north-western corner of Section No.
31 of the said Block IX.; thence again towards the north-
west by the eastern side of the Western Hutt Road to that
portion of the said Section No. 37 granted to Leonard
Young; thence again towards the north-east by the said
portion of Section No. 37 granted to the said Leonard Young
to the road which forms the western boundary of Section
No. 46 of the said Block IX; thence by a right line across
that road to the northernmost corner of Section No. 38 of
Block IX. aforesaid; and thence again towards the north-
west by the eastern side of the said road and by Sections
Nos. 37 and 48 of the said Block IX. to the westernmost
corner of Section No. 49 aforesaid.

Defining the Middle Line of the Extension of the Westport—
Ngakawau Railway to the Mokihinui River.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the extension of the Westport—Ngakawau
Railway to the Mokihinui River is authorised by
“The Westport—Ngakawau Railway Extension Act, 1890,”
and which Act is, in the third section thereof, declared to be
a special Act authorising the construction of such extension
of the said railway; and such extension is unfinished, and it
has been determined to construct and maintain the same:
Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred on me by
sections one hundred and twenty-nine and one hundred and
thirty of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and in exercise of
every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in
that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the middle
line of the extension of the said railway shall be as defined
and set forth in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
COMMENCING at a point on the Westport—Ngakawau Railway
bearing about 252° 45′ from the easternmost corner of Sec-
tion 1, Ngakawau Survey District, and about 490 links
distant therefrom, the said point being the termination of
the railway as described in a Proclamation dated the 28th
January, 1889, and published in the New Zealand Gazette
No. 5, 31st January, 1889; proceeding thence generally in a
north-eastern direction for a distance of about 533 chains;
thence generally in an eastern direction for a distance of
about 38 chains 22 links, and passing in, into, through or
over the following lands, viz.: Section 1, Crown lands,
Ngakawau Township, and Crown lands in the Ngakawau Sur-
vey District; Crown lands, Sections 2 and 3 (mining leases),
Mokihinui Township, Crown land, and Railway Reserve
in the Mokihinui Survey District; and terminating at a
point bearing about 250° 15′ from the north-west corner of
the Mokihinui Coal Company’s Wharf, and distant therefrom
about 125 links; including all intervening places, roads,
rivers, streams, and watercourses; the total length of the
line as above described being 7 miles 11 chains 22 links or
thereby; all in the Provincial District of Nelson; in the
manner delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 16700, in the
office of the Minister for Public Works at Wellington, a
copy of which has been deposited in the office of the Registrar
of the Supreme Court at Nelson.
