Audit of School Committees' Accounts.

ONSLow, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this second day of December, 1890.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by “The Education Act, 1877,” the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the colony, doth hereby cancel and repeal sections three, four, and five of the regulations, under the heading “Audit of accounts,” made by Order in Council dated the fifth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven, and in lieu thereof doth hereby make the regulations set forth in the Schedule hereto. And it is hereby declared that this Order in Council, and the regulations hereby made, shall come into force on the fourth day of December instant.

SCHEDULE.

  1. The Board of each Education District shall, in the month of March in every year, appoint an Auditor or Auditors to audit the accounts of the School Committees within the district, and shall in the same month notify to each School Committee the name of the Auditor who is appointed to audit the accounts of such Committee for the year in which such appointment is made.

  2. Every School Committee shall, not later than the fifth day of April in every year, make up the accounts of the school district for the year or period ending the thirty-first day of March previous, and shall immediately thereafter submit the same to an Auditor appointed by the Board of the Education District within which the school or schools under the jurisdiction of the Committee are situated.

  3. The Auditor appointed to audit the accounts of any School Committee shall have access to all the books and accounts of the Committee and of its officers, and shall examine the general statement of the receipts and expenditure of the Committee, and compare the same with the accounts and vouchers relating thereto, and shall either certify under his hand that he has found the same to be correct, duly vouched, and in accordance with law, or specially report to the Education Board of the district in what respect he finds it otherwise.

Prescribing Fees to be paid at Hokitika District High School.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this second day of December, 1890.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by “The Education Act, 1877,” the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the colony, doth make the regulation hereto annexed, prescribing the fees to be paid at the Hokitika District High School; and, with the like advice and consent, doth declare that this Order in Council and the regulation hereby made shall come into force on the fourth day of December instant.

REGULATION.

In the District High School at Hokitika the fees for higher education within the meaning of section 56 of “The Education Act, 1877,” shall be £8 per annum, payable quarterly.

Rural Lands in the Taranaki Land District open for Sale or Selection.

ONSLow, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the third section of “The Land Act Amendment Act, 1887” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection, after the lapse of a period of not less than forty-five days from the date of the first public notification hereof, in the manner and upon the conditions mentioned in the said Act, and at the price per acre stated in the said Schedule.

Description of Land: Section 76, all forest, about 10 acres swampy, level agricultural land, forest consists of rimu, rata, tawa, pukatea, and smaller growths, light volcanic soil resting on gravel, fronts Eltham Road, four and a half miles by metalled road to Opunake, well watered; 77, same as 76, which it adjoins, fronts Watino Road, five and a half miles from Opunake, well watered; 78, all forest, level agricultural land, forest consists of rimu, rata, tawa, pukatea, &c., volcanic soil, well watered, fronts Watino Road, six miles from Opunake; 82, all forest, level agricultural land, forest consists of rimu, rata, tawa, pukatea, &c., volcanic soil, fronts Patiki Road, which is gravelled to within one mile of section, four and a half miles to Pihama Township, well watered.

Patea County.—Opaku Survey District.—Patea District.
