Amended Allocation of Councillors for Ridings in County of Stratford.

ONSLOW, Governor.
A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by a Proclamation dated the twenty-second day of November, one thousand eight hundred and ninety, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand did, among other things, proclaim and declare that the number of members of the County Council to be elected for each of the ridings of the County of Stratford should be as follows: For the North Riding, one member; for the East Riding, one member; for the South Riding, one member; for the West Riding, one member; and for the Central Riding, two members: And whereas the above-recited distribution of members was, by inadvertence, made in a manner different from that intended to be made, and it is expedient that such error should be amended, and the distribution of the members should be made in the manner originally intended:
Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, hereby revoke so much of the said recited Proclamation as relates to the representation of the County of Stratford, and do hereby proclaim and declare that the number of members to be elected for each of the ridings of the said county shall be as follows: For the North Riding, two members; for the East Riding, two members; for the South Riding, two members; for the West Riding, two members; and for the Central Riding, one member.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, of Onslow in the County of Salop; Viscount Cranley, of Cranley in the County of Surrey; Baron Onslow, of Onslow in the County of Salop, and of West Clandon in the County of Surrey; Baron Cranley, of Imbercourt; Baronet; Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this third day of December, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety.

Licensing Districts defined.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the sixth section of "The Licensing Act, 1881," it is enacted that the Governor shall, as soon as conveniently may be after the commencement of the said Act, by Proclamation in the Gazette, from time to time define districts to be licensing districts under the said Act, and from time to time may alter and redefine the boundaries of the same:
Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, alter and redefine the boundaries of the Licensing Districts of Avon, Lincoln, and Little River, which shall, from and after the first day of January next, be those described in the First Schedule hereto; and do hereby proclaim and define the part of the colony mentioned and described in the Second Schedule hereto to be, from and after the said first day of January, an ordinary licensing district for the purposes of the said Act.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
Avon.
All that area in the County of Selwyn bounded towards the north by the County of Ashley; towards the west generally by the Courtenay Road District, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 36, 30th April, 1883; towards the south-west by the Springs Road District, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 36, 30th April, 1883; towards the south-east and again towards the south-west by the Lincoln Road District, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 40, 25th June, 1885; again towards the south-east generally by the Halswell Road District, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 31, 14th May, 1885, and the Spreydon Road District, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 31, 14th May, 1885; towards the east by the Borough of Sydenham, the City of Christchurch, and the Borough of St. Albans respectively; towards the south and again towards the west by the said Borough of St. Albans; again towards the south by the City of Christchurch and the Heathcote Road District, as the same is described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 36, 30th April, 1883; and towards the east by the sea.
LINCOLN.
All that area in the County of Selwyn comprising the Lincoln Road District, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 40, 25th June, 1885; the Springs Road District, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 36, 30th April, 1883; and the Taitapu Road District, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 88, 1st August, 1884.
LITTLE RIVER.
All that area in the County of Akaroa being the Little River Road District, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 88, 1st August, 1884.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
RICHMOND.
All that area in the City of Christchurch being the Richmond Ward thereof, as described in the First Schedule to a Proclamation extending the boundaries of the City of Christchurch, dated the 30th May, 1890, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 31, 5th June, 1890.

Removal of Restrictions on Alienation of Native Land.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-fifth day of November, 1890.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS application has been made to the Governor in Council by Karo Hotene, successor to Katene Hotene, the Native owner of the lands described in the second column of the Schedule hereto, praying that the restrictions on the alienation of such lands contained in the Crown grant, bearing date the second day of February, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five, described in the first column of the said Schedule, may be removed: And whereas inquiry has been duly made by the Native Land Court, and the said Court has reported that the provisions of the law in that behalf have been complied with: And whereas it appears expedient to grant such application:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Right Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by "The Native Land Act, 1888," and acting with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that all restrictions imposed by the said Crown grant on the alienation of the said lands are hereby removed.

SECOND COLUMN.
Description of Lands.
Crown grant, index No. 5374, T.19, page 237, dated the 2nd February, 1885, in favour of Katene Hotene, and containing the following restrictions: "Inalienable by sale, or by lease for a longer period than twenty-one years, or by mortgage, without the consent of the Governor previously obtained."
All those parcels of land in the Waitara Survey District, containing respectively 12 acres 2 roods and 37 acres 2 roods, and known as Section 96, Block VII., and Section 7, Block XI., Waitara Survey District.
