OPOTIKI DISTRICT.
All that area in the County of Whakatane, in the Provincial District of Auckland, bounded towards the north and north-west by the ocean, from the Whakatane River to Cape Runaway; thence towards the north-east by a right line to the summit of Hikurangi Mountain; thence towards the south-east by a right line to Kapua Trig. Station; thence by a right line to Arowhana Trig. Station; thence by a right line to Trig. Station 139, Arowhana Survey District; thence by a right line to Trig. Station 140, and by the last-mentioned line produced to the Motu River; thence by the right bank of the said Motu River to the north-western boundary-line of the Motu Block; thence by the said Motu Block to the Koranga River; thence again towards the north-east by the right bank of the said Koranga River to the source of that river; thence by a right line to Maungatapere; thence again towards the south-east by a right to Maungapohatu; thence again towards the north-east by a right line to Trig. Station 93, Tuahu Survey District; thence towards the south by a right line to the mouth of the Ohiwa or Waikare River in Waikaremoana; thence towards the west by the said Ohiwa River to its source; thence by a right line to the source of the Whakatane River; and thence by the said Whakatane River to the ocean.
WAIOA DISTRICT.
All that area in the Counties of Wairoa, East Taupo, and Hawke’s Bay, partly in the Provincial District of Auckland and partly in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay, bounded towards the north-east by a right line from the place where the Waikato River flows out of Lake Taupo to the south-westernmost point of Waikaremoana; thence towards the north-west by the north-western margin of the said Waikaremoana to the mouth of the Ohiwa or Waikare River; thence towards the north by a right line to Trig. Station 93, Tuahu Survey District; thence again towards the north-east by a right line to the confluence of the Mangarewarewa Stream with the Ruakituri River; thence by the left bank of the said Ruakituri River to the confluence of that river with the Hangaroa River; thence by a right line to Paritu, on the East Coast; thence towards the east generally by the ocean; towards the south generally by Hawke Bay to the mouth of the Waikare River; thence towards the south-west by that river to its source; thence towards the west by a line due north to the 39th parallel of south latitude; thence again towards the south by the said parallel of latitude to the Waikato River; thence again towards the west by the said Waikato River to Lake Taupo; and thence again towards the north-west by the said Lake Taupo to the outflow of the Waikato River therefrom.
And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall come into operation on the first day of September, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety.

Cancelling a Proclamation issued in connection with the Palmerston-Woodville Railway, Woodville-Gorge Section.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS a Proclamation dated the twenty-eighth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and ninety, taking certain lands for roads in connection with the Palmerston-Woodville Railway, Woodville-Gorge Section, under the authority of section eleven of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” was published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 11, of the sixth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety, and it is found that such Proclamation incorrectly describes the land purporting to be taken:
And whereas such Proclamation has not been registered by the District Land Registrar, and it appears expedient to cancel the same:
Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The Public Works Acts Amendment Act, 1889,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby cancel and annul the said recited Proclamation dated the twenty-eighth day of February aforesaid, as from the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette.

Reapportioning the Cost of Maintaining the Whau Bridge.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by section four of “The Public Works Acts Amendment Act, 1887” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”) it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor may, upon the terms and conditions in the said section mentioned, by Proclamation publicly notified, direct that any bridge already constructed, or which may hereafter be constructed, over or across any river or arm of the sea respectively, shall, from and after a date to be fixed in such Proclamation, be under the exclusive care, control, and management of such local authority as shall be mentioned in that behalf in such Proclamation:
And whereas the control and management of the bridge described in the First Schedule hereto (and hereafter referred to as “the said bridge”) was vested in the Waitemata County Council by a warrant of the Honourable the Minister for Public Works, dated the twelfth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven, and the cost of managing and maintaining the said bridge was apportioned in the manner set forth in the said warrant:
And whereas it is expedient that the said warrant should be revoked, and that other provisions should be made in the manner hereinafter described:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Right Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred by the said Act, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling him in this behalf, doth hereby revoke the said warrant of the twelfth day of April aforesaid; and, in lieu of the provisions contained in the said warrant, doth hereby proclaim, order, and direct that the Waitemata County Council shall have the exclusive care, control, and management of the said bridge on and from the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette; and doth hereby fix and determine that the said County Council shall itself provide out of its own funds one-half of the cost of managing and maintaining the said bridge; and that each local body mentioned in the Second Schedule hereto shall respectively, on demand in writing from the Waitemata County Council, pay to the said Council from time to time the proportion of the cost of managing and maintaining the said bridge as set forth opposite the name of such local body respectively in such Second Schedule; and doth hereby declare that these presents shall come into force on the day of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
The bridge over the Whau River known as the Whau Traffic-bridge, and the approaches on each side thereof, situated in the Provincial District of Auckland, on the line of road known as the Great North Road, leading from the City of Auckland; as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 12216, deposited in the General Survey Office, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington, and thereon marked in red.
