ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this nineteenth day of August, 1890.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by section fourteen of “The Public Works Act, 1882” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is provided that if it is found that any land held, taken, purchased, or acquired at any time under that Act, or any other Act or provincial ordinance, or otherwise however, for public works, is not required for public use, the Governor may, by an Order in Council, publicly notified and gazetted, cause the same to be sold under the conditions in the said recited section set forth: And whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto has been acquired for a public work within the meaning of the said Act; and the Council of the Borough of Thames has laid before the Governor a memorial, accompanied by a map, in terms of the said Act, praying the Governor, by an Order in Council, to cause the said land to be sold:
Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities aforesaid, do hereby order that the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall be valued and sold in the manner and subject to the conditions in the fourteenth section of the said Act provided.

Removal of Restrictions on Alienation of Native Land.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this nineteenth day of August, 1890.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS application has been made to the Governor in Council by Piahana Kau, the Native owner of the land described in the second column of the Schedule hereto, praying that the restrictions on the alienation of such land contained in the certificate of title, bearing date the fifteenth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine, described in the first column of the said Schedule, may be removed: And whereas inquiry has been duly made by the Native Land Court, and the said Court has reported that the provisions of the law in that behalf have been complied with: And whereas it appears expedient to grant such application:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Right Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by “The Native Land Act, 1888,” and acting with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that all restrictions imposed by the said certificate of title on the alienation of the said lands are hereby removed.
