hundred and thirteen of “The Land Act, 1885,” and shall at the time of application deposit with the Receiver of Land Revenue for the land district one-tenth of the price of the allotment; such payment shall be deemed to be a discharge of the license-fee for the six months due on the next first day of January or July following the date of the license, as the case may be; and, upon fulfilment of the terms and conditions prescribed by the said Act relating to land on deferred payments, will be entitled to the Crown grant, to be issued in the usual way.

  1. Each applicant for any of the allotments on perpetual leasing shall be required to deposit with the Receiver of Land Revenue for the land district a sum equal to one half-year’s rent of the allotment included in the application, and such payment shall be in discharge of the half-year’s rent due on the first day of January or July which shall first ensue after the commencement of the term, together with the sum of thirty shillings for the lease and registration thereof.

Further extending the Close Season for Seals.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Dunedin, this twenty-fourth day of December, 1889.

Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by “The Fisheries Conservation Act, 1884” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is, among other things, enacted that the Governor in Council may from time to time make, alter, and revoke regulations for the purposes therein mentioned, which said regulations shall have force and effect only in any waters or places specified therein:

And whereas by Order in Council dated the eleventh day of September, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, certain regulations were made, in exercise and pursuance of the powers conferred by the said Act, prescribing a close season for seals:

And whereas by Order in Council dated the eighteenth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, a regulation was made, in exercise and pursuance of the powers conferred by the said Act, extending the close season for seals until the thirty-first day of December, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine:

And whereas it is expedient to further extend such close season for seals:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers conferred upon him by the said Act, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby make the following regulation:—

The close season for seals prescribed by Order in Council dated the eleventh day of September, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, and extended by Order in Council dated the eighteenth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, is hereby further extended until the thirty-first day of December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety; and this regulation shall have force and effect in the Colony of New Zealand, and in all salt, fresh, and brackish waters of the said colony, and on all shores of such waters and any part thereof, or that may be contiguous or adjacent to such waters.

This regulation shall extend to and include seals of any species whatever.

Vesting Gravel Reserves in Canterbury.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Dunedin, this twenty-fourth day of December, 1889.

Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto were reserved for gravel-pits: And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is expedient to vest the said reserves in the several Road Boards enumerated in the said Schedule:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the fourth section of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” doth hereby declare that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the said reserves shall become vested in the several Road Boards, in trust, for gravel-pits.

IN THE COURTENAY ROAD BOARD.
Reserve No. 2803 (in red), containing 10 acres, more or less.

IN THE OXFORD ROAD BOARD.
Reserve No. 2649 (in red), containing 3 acres, more or less.

Notification that Her Majesty has relinquished Negotiations for the Acquisition of a Portion of Te Tumu Kaituna Block, known as Te Paroa.

ONSLOW, Governor.

IN pursuance of the provisions of “The Government Native Land Purchases Act, 1887,” and “The Government Native Land Purchases Act Amendment Act, 1878,” it is hereby notified that Her Majesty the Queen has relinquished negotiations in respect of the block of Native land in the North Island which is more particularly described and mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.
TE PAROA, PORTION OF TE TUMU KAITUNA.

ALL that parcel of land situate in Te Tumu Survey District, in the Provincial District of Auckland, known by the name of Te Paroa, and being a portion of Te Tumu Kaituna Block. Bounded towards the north by Te Tumu Kaituna Block, 1806, 598, and 1768 links; towards the south-east by the aforesaid block, 1379 links; towards the south by the Kaituna River; and towards the west by Te Tumu Kaituna Block aforesaid, 1999 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on Plan No. 1916A, deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Auckland.

As witness the hand of his Excellency the Governor, this eighteenth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine.

Reducing Fees for Inspection of Boilers and Machinery.

ONSLOW, Governor.

WHEREAS it is provided by section thirty-seven of “The Inspection of Machinery Act, 1882” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), that the Governor shall have power from time to time, by warrant duly gazetted, to diminish the amount of the fees to be paid for the inspection of boilers and machinery, as prescribed in the Fifth Schedule to the said Act:

And whereas it is expedient to diminish such fees in the manner hereinafter set forth:

Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred by the said Act, do hereby order and direct that, subject as hereinafter mentioned, the fees set forth in the Schedule hereto shall be paid for the inspection of boilers and machinery, instead of the fees set forth in the Fifth Schedule to the said Act: Provided that such fees are paid within one month from the date of the issue of the certificate granted by the Inspectors:
