under “The Friendly Societies Act, 1882,” this 5th day of

Award by Land Claims Commissioner.

I, ALFRED GREENFIELD, a Commissioner duly appointed
by virtue of the Ordinance No. 15, Session XI., 1851,
entitled “An Ordinance to ascertain the Contracts and
Engagements entered into by the New Zealand Company for
the Disposal of certain Lands in the Islands of New Zealand,
and to provide for the Completion of such Contracts and
Engagements for the Colonial Government,” do hereby report
that the claim of Stephen Pellatt Smith, of Blackheath,
England, and Edward Lyon Lakin, of Wilmcote, Stratford-
on-Avon, England, executors under the will of the late Joseph
Greaves, of Malvern, in the County of Worcester, England,
having been referred to me, I hereby decide that the said
Joseph Greaves was entitled to the lands hereinafter described, and that a Crown grant should be issued to the said
Stephen Pellatt Smith and Edward Lyon Lakin therefor,
viz.:

  1. All that portion of section numbered 167 on the plan of
    the City of Nelson containing by admeasurement 4 perches,
    more or less. Bounded on the north by another part of the
    said section granted to M. Campbell, 76 feet; on the east by
    a right-of-way, 13·9 feet; on the south by another part of the
    said section granted to Anne Bird, 76 feet; and on the west
    by Trafalgar Street, 13·9 feet.

  2. Also all that portion of the said section numbered 167
    containing by admeasurement 18 perches, more or less.
    Bounded on the north by another part of the said section
    granted to the said Joseph Greaves, 76 feet; on the east by
    a right-of-way, 66 feet 6 inches; on the south by the said
    right-of-way, 75 feet; and on the west by Trafalgar Street,
    66 feet 6 inches.

  3. Also all that portion of the said section numbered 167
    containing by admeasurement 1 rood 1 perch, more or less.
    Bounded on the north by other parts of said section previously granted to Daniel Moore and Charles Harley respectively, 12 feet 6 inches, 4 feet, and 49 feet; on the east by
    Section No. 169, 163·4 feet, and by other portions of said
    Section No. 167, 30 feet and 17 feet; on the south by Section
    No. 166, 65 feet 6 inches; and on the west by a right-of-way,
    210·4 feet.

All of which said pieces or parcels of land are more particularly described on the plan attached hereto, and thereon
coloured yellow.

And I hereby further report that the legal estate was
vested in the said Joseph Greaves on the 22nd day of January, 1845.
