specification of an invention for a skirt-form, to be called
"Ogilvie's Patent Folding and Adjustable Skirt-form."

No. 3514. - ALFRED NOBEL, of 53, Avenue Malakoff, Paris,
France, Engineer, has deposited at this office a specification
of an invention for improvements in the manufacture of
explosives.

No. 3515. - THOMAS JOHN DUNN, of Sydney, New South
Wales, Tanner, has deposited at this office a specification of
an invention for improvements in the process of tanning
leather with tannin compounds.

No. 3516. - ORAZIO LUGO, of the City of New York, United
States of America, Doctor of Medicine, has deposited at
this office a specification of an invention for improvements
in electric motors and dynamo machines.

No. 3517. - THOMAS FRASER MCPHERSON, of Upper Ma-
whera Quay, Greymouth, New Zealand, Builder, has
deposited at this office a specification of an invention for
lifting water, washdirt, or other material from a lower to a
higher level, specially for gold-mining or other purposes, to
be called "McPherson's Patent Lift."

No. 3518. - DAVID STRANG, of Invercargill, New Zealand,
Coffee and Spice Merchant, has deposited at this office a
specification of an invention entitled "Strang's Patent
Soluble Dry Coffee-powder."

And I have appointed Wednesday, the 15th day of May
next, at 11 o'clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear
the said applications and all objections thereto; and I require
all persons having an interest in opposing the grant of any
such Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 30th day of
April next, at this office, particulars in writing of their
objections to any of the said applications, otherwise they
will be precluded from urging the same.

specification of an invention for an automatic machine for
creating motive power, styled "Reeves's Desideratum Motive
Power."

No. 3521. - WILLIAM HENRY RICHARDSON, of Thebarton,
South Australia, has deposited at this office a specification
of an invention for an improved process and appliances for
saving fine gold and fine mercury which has become sickened
in vaporisation or other process.

No. 3522. - GUSTAF DILLBERG, of Christchurch, Canter-
bury, New Zealand, has deposited at this office a specifica-
tion of an invention for an improved automatic delivery-box
for cigarettes.

No. 3523. - ALEXANDER SCHULTZE, of the Railway Hotel,
Onehunga, Auckland, New Zealand, Licensed Victualler,
has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for
an improved method of growing fruit and vegetables, to be
called "Schultze's Cylindrical Method of Growing Fruit."

No. 3524. - LEONARD POZZI, of Christchurch, Canterbury,
New Zealand, Gunsmith, has deposited at this office a
specification of an invention for a feeder, to be called
"Pozzi's Pen Ink-feeder."

And I have appointed Thursday, the 16th day of May next,
at 11 o'clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the said
applications and all objections thereto; and I require all
persons having an interest in opposing the grant of any such
Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 1st day of May
next, at this office, particulars in writing of their objections
to any of the said applications, otherwise they will be pre-

(operating by means of a steam-jet and an induced current
of air) for the prevention and consumption of smoke, and
the more complete combustion of fuel in steam-boiler and
other furnaces.

No. 3526. - WILLIAM MACANDREW, of Foxton, New Zea-
land, Engineer, has deposited at this office a specification of
an invention for improvements in dressing flax, and in
machinery for the same.

No. 3527. - GEORGE HAMILTON, of Bridge Street, Sydney,
New South Wales, Merchant, has deposited at this office a
specification of an invention for an improved coke-ram, and
the means of operating the same.

No. 3528. - JAMES EDWIN ARNOLD, of Onehunga, Auck-
land, New Zealand, Blacksmith, has deposited at this office
a specification of an invention for a gum-digging spear, to be
called "Arnold's Patent Gum-spear Shifting Handle."

No. 3529. - HENRY FRICKER, of 4, Great Portland Street,
Oxford Street, London, England, Manager, has deposited at
this office a specification of an invention for an improved
portable cooking apparatus.

No. 3530. - JOHN FIVEN, of Tory Street, Nelson, New
Zealand, Coachsmith, has deposited at this office a specifica-
tion of an invention for an improved shaft-coupling for four-
wheeled vehicles.

And I have appointed Tuesday, the 21st day of May
next, at 11 o'clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the
said applications and all objections thereto; and I require all
persons having an interest in opposing the grant of any such
Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 6th day of May
next, at this office, particulars in writing of their objections
to any of the said applications, otherwise they will be pre-
