THE following notices, received from the Chairman of the
Geraldine County Council, are published in accordance
with "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886."

RESULT of poll on a proposal of the Geraldine County Coun-
cil to borrow the sum of £900, under the provisions of "The
Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886," for the purpose of a water-
supply for the Geraldine Flat Water-supply District, taken
on Tuesday, the 3rd day of September, 1889, at Geraldine
Flat:-

Number of ratepayers who voted, 9, out of a possible 13.
Votes recorded for the proposal, 20, out of a possible 24;
votes against the proposal, nil.

As a majority of the ratepayers exercising more than one-
half the number of votes being in favour of the proposal, I
therefore declare it to be carried.

RESULT of poll on a proposal of the Geraldine County
Council to borrow the sum of £1,600, under the provisions of
"The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886," for the purpose of a
water-supply for the Orari-Waihi Water-supply District,
taken on Wednesday, the 4th day of September, 1889, at the
Schoolhouse, Orari Bridge:-

Number of ratepayers who voted, 21, out of a possible 25.
Votes recorded for the proposal, 29, out of a possible 36;
votes against the proposal, nil.

As a majority of the ratepayers exercising more than one-
half the number of votes being in favour of the proposal, I
therefore declare it to be carried.

Alfredton, on the 3rd day of September, 1889, upon a pro-

tion of the Eketahuna-Tiraumea Section of the Eketahuna-
Tinui Road:-

Number of ratepayers on special roll 9, representing 19
votes. Number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal 6,
representing 11 votes; number of ratepayers who voted
against the proposal 1, representing 1 vote.

As a majority of the ratepayers, representing more than
one-half of the total number of votes which could be exer-
cised, voted in favour of the proposal, I declare the same to
be carried.

1889, upon a proposal to raise a loan of £750, under "The
Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886," for the purpose of road-for-
mation, metalling, and bridges on the Mangaone Valley and
Tawatai Roads:-

Number of ratepayers on special roll, 17; representing 17
votes. Number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal
12, representing 12 votes; number of ratepayers who voted
against the proposal, nil.

As a majority of the ratepayers, representing more than
one-half the number of votes that could be exercised, voted
in favour of the proposal, I hereby declare the same to be
carried.

of road-formation and metalling in Wellington No. 1
Block:-

Number of ratepayers on special roll 63, representing 63
votes. Number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal
42, representing 42 votes; number of ratepayers who voted
against the proposal, nil.

As a majority of the ratepayers, representing more than
one-half of the total number of votes which could be exer-
cised, voted in favour of the proposal, I declare the same to

Charges in force on the New Zealand Railways.

THE New Zealand Railway Commissioners, in exercise
and pursuance of the powers conferred by "The Go-
vernment Railways Act, 1887," do hereby make the following
alterations in and additions to the scale of fares, rates, and
charges on the New Zealand Railways, to come into force on
and after the 13th day of September, 1889:---

PART IV.- LOCAL RATES.

NAPIER AND WANGANUI SECTIONS.

Class M.

Class M, carried between stations on the Napier Section
and stations on the Wanganui Section, will be charged at the
classified rates computed on the continuous mileage, with
the following sums added, viz. :--
