Resuming Possession of Part of Section 7, Block VII., Declaring that Education Reserves in Otago shall be sold.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the one hundred and fifty-eighth
section of "The Land Act, 1885," I, William Hillier, Earl
of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
do hereby resume possession of the land described in the
Schedule hereto, for the purposes of a road.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land in the Hawke's Bay Land District,
being part of Section 7, Block VII., Weber Survey District,
containing 1 acre 3 roods 21 perches, more or less. Bounded
generally towards the north and east by the Wainui-Tahoraite
Road, 1719-2 links; and towards the south-east and west by
other part of the said Section 7, 1402.4 and 821.3 links
respectively.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, of
Onslow in the County of Salop; Viscount Cranley,
of Cranley in the County of Surrey; Baron
Onslow, of Onslow in the County of Salop, and
of West Clandon in the County of Surrey; Baron
Cranley, of Imbercourt; Baronet; Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint
Michael and Saint George; Governor and Com-
mander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal
of the said Colony, at the Government House,
at Wellington, this sixteenth day of September,
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hun-
dred and eighty-nine.

vested in him by the two hundred and fortieth section
of "The Land Act, 1885," and of every other power and
authority enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, and at the request of the School Commissioners of
Otago, in whom the land herein described is vested, doth
hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule
hereto, which has been reserved for educational purposes,
shall be sold, subject to the provisions of "The Land Act,
1885," and the Land Act Amendment Acts, 1887 and
1888.
SCHEDULE.
WAIKAIA SURVEY DISTRICT.
ALL that parcel of land situated in the Provincial District of
Otago, being part of Section No. 61, Block I., Waikaia Survey
District, containing by admeasurement 6 acres.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, of
Onslow in the County of Salop; Viscount Cranley,
of Cranley in the County of Surrey; Baron
Onslow, of Onslow in the County of Salop, and
of West Clandon in the County of Surrey; Baron

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this sixteenth
day of September, 1889.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
BY virtue of the power and authority vested in him by
"The Civil Service Reform Act, 1886," His Excel-
lency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
thereof, doth hereby make the following regulation respect-
ing the Senior Civil Service Examination required by the
said Act, and dotli order that the same shall be deemed to
form part of the regulations made under the said Act by
Order in Council dated the twenty-second day of March, one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven:-
REGULATION.
A candidate whose work at any Senior Civil Service
Examination is good on the whole, but in one or two sub-
jects is below the required standard, may be registered as
having achieved partial success at the examination; and,
on giving the requisite notice, may at the next examination
sit, without payment of fee, to be examined in such one or
two subjects; and such candidate, if successful in such
subject or subjects, shall be deemed to have passed the
examination.
