an Order in Council of even date herewith, the land described
in the Schedule thereto is declared to be brought under the
operation of and to be subject to the provisions of the said
“Public Domains Act, 1881:”

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
Colony of New Zealand, doth, by this present order, delegate
all the powers conferred by the Act first above mentioned,
except the powers under or conferred by sections five and
twelve, to

The CORPORATION of the BOROUGH of WESTPORT

which shall be known as the Kawatiri Domain Board (herein
referred to as “the Board”), subject to the stipulations
hereinafter contained, that is to say,—

  1. The Board shall meet for the transaction of business on
    the third Monday in each month, at three o’clock p.m., at
    the Corporation Office, Westport, or at such other time or
    place as may from time to time be fixed by the Board. The
    first meeting shall be held on Monday, the twenty-first day
    of October, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine.

  2. Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman or
    by any two members of the Board, provided that two days’
    notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying
    the business to be transacted at such special meeting, and
    no other business than that so specified shall be transacted
    at such meeting.

  3. Any three of the said Board shall form a quorum. Any
    meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

  4. The members of the Board shall, at their first meeting,
    and thereafter at an annual meeting to be held on the
    third Monday in January in every succeeding year there-
    after, elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join
    in the discussion, and shall have an original as well as a
    casting vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the
    election of his successor.

  5. If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the
    time appointed for holding the same, the members present
    shall choose some one of their number to be Chairman of
    such meeting.

  6. If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or otherwise,
    the office of Chairman shall be or become vacant, the mem-
    bers may at any monthly or special meeting appoint a
    Chairman.

  7. All questions shall be determined by the majority of
    votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.

Rural Land in the Taranaki Land District open for Sale
or Selection.

ONSLow, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the third section of “The Land
Act Amendment Act, 1887” (hereinafter termed “the said
Act”), I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the
Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is
provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated
in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection,
after the lapse of a period of not less than forty-five days
from the date of the first public notification hereof, in the
manner and upon the conditions mentioned in the said Act,
and at the price per acre stated in the said Schedule.

This notification will revoke so much of the Proclamations
of the thirteenth and twenty-sixth days of November, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-six (published in Gazette
No. 75, of the first day of December, one thousand eight hun-
dred and seventy-seven), the Proclamation of the fourth day
of April, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine
(published in Gazette No. 39, of the tenth day of April, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine), the Proclamation
of the second day of April, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty (published in Gazette No. 34, of the eighth day of
April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty), and of the
notification dated the first day of February, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-eight (published in Gazette No. 8,
of the second day of February, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-eight), as relate to the sections enumerated in
the Schedule hereto.

Description of Land: These allotments are contiguous to
the forest reserve around Mount Egmont. The land is level
and in some parts swampy, light soil, bush land. Five to
seven miles from Inglewood.

Description of Land: Eight to twelve miles eastward of
Inglewood. Soil very good, but country generally rough.
The land in Blocks III. and IV. is situated eastward of the
Waitara River, close to Tarata, in the Mangamoeahu Valley.
Every section includes more or less of open land, but the
country generally is very hilly, and only fit for runs. The
sections in Block VI. are part very hilly and part level, but
swampy. All are close to the Tariki Road School. Block
VII., very rough land.

OPAKU SURVEY DISTRICT.

Description of Land: About five miles from the Ball Road
Railway-station, between Manutahi and Patea. Soil good,
but country very broken.
