corner of Section No. 202; thence by Sections Nos. 639, 150,
541, 567, 40, and 511, and the southern boundary-line of the
last-mentioned section produced to the Mataura River;
thence towards the north-east by that river to a point due
west of the Pyramid; thence towards the north by a right
line to the south-western corner of Wendon Survey District;
thence by that survey district and Greenvale Survey District;
towards the east by Glenkenich Survey District to the south-
western corner of Section No. 27, Block V., of the said Glen-
kenich Survey District; thence again towards the north-east
generally by the said Section No. 27 and the road fronting Sec-
tions Nos. 14, 13, 11, 10, and 9 of the said Block V., and Sections
Nos. 17, 18, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 37, and 41, Block IX., of the
said Glenkenich Survey District to the easternmost corner
of the last-mentioned section; thence towards the south and
again towards the east by Waipahi Survey District to the
Southern Trunk Railway-line; thence again towards the
north-east by the said railway-line to the Waipahi River;
thence again towards the east by that river to Block XI. of
the said Waipahi Survey District; thence again towards the
south by the said Block XI. and Blocks IX., XII., and XIII.
respectively of Waikaka Survey District to the Mataura
River; thence towards the south-east by the left bank of the
Mataura River to a point bearing N. 45° W. to the confluence
of the Charlton Stream and the said Mataura River; thence
towards the south-west generally by a right line to the said
confluence; thence by the Waimumu Hundred; thence
again towards the south by the said Waimumu Hundred and
Forest Hill Hundred to Lora Stream; and thence again
towards the north-west generally by the said Lora Stream,
Run No. 148A, and Section No. 354, Hokonui Survey District,
to Cowan's Creek.
MATAURA DISTRICT.
All that area in the Counties of Southland and Clutha
bounded towards the north and north-east by Hokonui Survey
District, from the north-western corner of Waimumu Hundred
to the Mataura River; thence by a line bearing S. 45° E. across
that river; thence towards the north-west by the Mataura
River; again towards the north by Blocks IV., V., and VI.,
Waikaka Survey District, and Block X., Waipahi Survey
District, to the Waipahi River; thence towards the east
generally by that river and the Kaiwera Stream to the source
of the east branch of the latter; thence by a line due south
to the north branch of the Mimihau River; thence towards
the south generally by the said north branch and the Mimi-
hau River to the Mataura River; thence by that river and
Otu Creek to the northern boundary-line of Mataura Hun-
dred; thence by the said Mataura Hundred and Lothian
Hundred to Lindhurst Stream; thence by that stream to the
Makarewa River; thence again towards the north-west by
the said Makarewa River; thence again towards the north
by a line due east from the north-western corner of Section
No. 190, Forest Hill Hundred, for a distance of 174 chains;
thence towards the west by a line due north for a distance
of 200 chains; thence again towards the north-west by a line
bearing N. 45° E. to the eastern boundary-line of Forest Hill
Hundred; and thence again towards the west by the said
Forest Hill Hundred to Hokonui Survey District.
And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall come
into operation on the ninth day of September, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine.

of Cranley in the County of Surrey; Baron

A PROCLAMATION.
N pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
vested in the Governor by "The Registration of Births
and Deaths Act, 1875," I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby

abolish the existing registration districts known as the
Invercargill, Wyndham, Winton, Gore, and Mataura Dis-
tricts, and do proclaim and declare that the territory here-
tofore comprised within the said districts is hereby divided
anew into five registration districts, the names whereof shall
be the Invercargill, Wyndham, Winton, Gore, and Mataura
Districts, and the boundaries whereof shall be coterminous
with the boundaries of the marriage districts bearing the
same names as are set forth in a Proclamation of even date
herewith, made under the provisions of "The Marriage Act,
1880."
And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall come
into operation on the ninth day of September, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine.

A PROCLAMATION.
HEREAS the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto
are required to be taken, under "The Public Works
Act, 1882," and its amendments, for a certain work, to wit,
the construction of a road in Mongonui County:
And whereas the Mongonui County Council has laid before
the Governor the memorial, accompanied by a map, and also
the statutory declaration, required by the said Act and the
amendments thereof:
Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by
"The Public Works Act, 1882," and of every other power
and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do
hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after the date
of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, the
lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto are hereby taken for
the purposes of the construction of the said road.
