A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
vested in the Governor by "The Marriage Act, 1880," I,
Willlam Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, do hereby abolish the existing marriage
districts known as the Invercargill, Wyndham, Winton,
Gore, and Mataura Districts, and do proclaim and declare
that the territory heretofore comprised within the said dis-
tricts is hereby divided anew into five marriage districts, the
names and boundaries whercof shall be as follow:—
INVERCARGILL DISTRICT.
All that area in the County of Southland bounded towards
the north by the Oreti, Winton, and Forest Hill Hundreds
respectively to the north-eastern corner of Section No. 14,
Block VIII., New River Hundred; thence by a right line to
the north-western corner of Section No. 289 of the said
Forest Hill Hundred; thence by a road at the northern
boundary of that section, and by Sections Nos. 299, 298, 296,
and 163 to the Makarewa River; thence towards the south-
east by that river to the confluence of the said river and the
Lindhurst Stream; thence towards the north-east generally
by the said Lindhurst Stream and Lindhurst Hundred to
Mataura Hundred; thence towards the south and east by
the said Mataura Hundred and the Oteramika Stream to the
Mataura River; thence by that river to a point in line with
the southern boundary-line of Section No. 44, Block IX.,
Oteramika Hundred; thence towards the south by a right
line to the south-eastern corner of that section; thence
towards the south-west generally by the southern boundary-
line of Section No. 44 aforesaid, and the south-western
boundary-lines of Sections Nos. 25, 24, 23, 22, 21, 20, and 19
of the said Block IX., and by the north-western boundary
line of the last-mentioned section to a point in line with the
northern boundary-line of Block V., Öteramika Hundred;
thence towards the south by a right line to and thence by
the said Block V. to Campbelltown Hundred; thence again
towards the east by Oteramika Hundred aforesaid to a point
due east of the south-east branch of the Mokomoko Inlet;
thence again towards the south by a line due west to the
said Mokomoko Inlet; thence towards the south-west gene-
rally by that inlet, the New River Harbour, and the sea to
the mouth of the Waimatuku Stream aforesaid; and towards
the west by the said Waimatuku Stream.
WYNDHAM DISTRICT.
All that area in the County of Southland bounded towards
the north generally by the Lindhurst Hundred, the Otu
Creek, the Mataura River, and the Mimihau River respec-
tively to the source of the north branch of the latter river;
thence towards the north-east by the summit of the range
over Centre Hill and the Cairn to Run No. 162; thence
towards the east generally by the said Run No. 162 to the
summit of Forest Range; thence towards the south by the
summit of the said Forest Range to the Wyndham Survey
District; thence by the Mokoreta and Toetoes Survey Dis-
tricts respectively to the Mataura River; and thence towards
the west generally by that river, the right bank of the
Oteramika Stream, and the Lothian Hundred.
WINTON DISTRICT.
All that area in the Counties of Southland and Wallace
bounded towards the north by a line running due east from
the Aparima River to the south-western corner of Section
No. 196, Taringatura Survey District; thence by that sec-
tion and Sections Nos. 195, 121, 214, 213, and 113 to the
Oreti River; thence towards the north-west by the right
bank of that river to a point in line with the southern
boundary-line of the Village of East Dipton; thence towards
the north-east generally by a right-line to the south-western
corner of the said village; thence by the Village of East
Dipton aforesaid to the road at the north-eastern boundary
of Section No. 576, Hokonui Survey District; thence by that
road and the continuation thereof through the said Section
No. 576, and past Sections Nos. 575 and 572 to the eastern-
most corner of Section No. 577; thence by Run No. 146 and
Section No. 354 to the south-eastern corner of that section;
thence towards the south-east generally by Run No. 119A,
Section No. 442, and Run No. 119B to Lora Stream; thence
by that stream to Forest Hill Hundred; thence again
towards the north by Hokonui Survey District; towards the
east by Waimumu Hundred; again towards the south-east
by a line bearing S. 45° W. to a point in Section No. 221,
Forest Hill Hundred, bearing N. 48° 58′ 36″ E., and distant
26509-6 links from the north-western corner of Section No. 190
of the said Forest Hill Hundred; thence again towards the
east by a line due south for a distance of 200 chains; thence
towards the south by a line due west to the right bank of the
Makarewa River; thence again towards the south-east gene-
rally by the said Makarewa River to Section No. 82, Forest
Hill Hundred; thence again towards the south by that
section and Sections Nos. 280, 262, and 289 of the said
Forest Hill Hundred, and a right line from the north-western
corner of the last-mentioned section to the north-eastern
corner of Section No. 14, Block VIII., New River Hundred;
thence by that hundred to the Waimatuku Stream; thence
towards the south-west by that stream to its source; thence
by Sections Nos. 12 and 11, Block XVI., Jacob's River
Hundred, and the Township of Hodgkinson to the Aparima
River; and thence again towards the north-west and towards
the west by the said Aparima River to a point due west of
the south-western corner of Section No. 196, Taringatura
Survey District aforesaid.
GORE DISTRICT.
All that area in the Counties of Southland and Clutha
bounded towards the north-west generally by Cowan's Creek,
Waimea Stream, and Longridge Stream respectively, Sections
Nos. 512 and 42, Hokonui Survey District, by the road forming
the north-western boundary of Section No. 625, and the con-
tinuation of that road to the northernmost corner of Section
No. 198 of the said survey district; thence by the road
