A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the one hundred and sixty-sixth
section of "The Land Act, 1885," I, William Hillier, Earl
of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
do hereby set apart the lands enumerated in the Schedule
to an Order in Council of even date herewith, and made
under the one hundred and sixty-seventh section of the said
Act, for sale as a village settlement, upon such terms and
conditions as are set forth in the said Order in Council.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow,
of Onslow in the County of Salop; Viscount Cranley,
of Cranley in the County of Surrey; Baron
Onslow, of Onslow in the County of Salop, and
of West Clandon in the County of Surrey; Baron
Cranley, of Imbercourt; Baronet; Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint
Michael and Saint George; Governor and Com-
mander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government
House, at Wellington, this fifteenth day of August,
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hun-
dred and eighty-nine.

A PROCLAMATION.
BY virtue and in exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in him by the two hundred and fortieth section
of "The Land Act, 1885," and of every other power and
authority enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, and at the request of the School Commissioners of
Otago, in whom the land herein described is vested, doth
hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule
hereto, which has been reserved for educational purposes,
shall be sold, subject to the provisions of "The Land Act,
1885," and "The Land Act Amendment Act, 1887."
SCHEDULE.
INVERCARGILL HUNDRED.
ALL that piece or parcel of land situate in the Land Dis-
trict of Southland, containing by admeasurement 1 acre
2 roods 24 perches, being Allotment No. 27 of Section 25,
Block XV., Invercargill Hundred. Bounded on the north by
a public road, 250 links; towards the east by Allotment
No. 26 of same section and block, 660 links; towards the
south by Allotment No. 24 of same section and block, 250
links; and towards the west by Allotment No. 28 of same
section and block, 660 links.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right

Onslow in the County of Salop; Viscount Cranley,
of Cranley in the County of Surrey; Baron
Onslow, of Onslow in the County of Salop, and

Districts constituted under "The Marriage Act, 1880."

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
vested in the Governor by "The Marriage Act, 1880," I
William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, do hereby abolish the existing marriage
districts known as the Ashburton and Rakaia Districts, and
do proclaim and declare that the territory heretofore com-
prised within the said districts is hereby divided anew
into three marriage districts, the names and boundaries
whereof shall be as follow:--
SPRINGBURN DISTRICT.
All that area in the County of Ashburton bounded
towards the north by the left bank of the Rakaia River,
from the source of that river to a branch of the said Rakaia
River known as Lake Stream; thence towards the north-
east generally by that stream and Run No. 118 to Clent
Hills Saddle; thence by the summit of Taylor Range to
Mount Taylor; thence by a right line to the source of
Boundary Creek; thence by that creek to the north branch
of the Ashburton River; thence by the left bank of the said
north branch to a point in line with the north-western
boundary-line of Section No. 18569, Westerfield Survey
District; thence towards the south-east by a right line to
the northernmost corner of that section; thence by Section
No. 18569 aforesaid to its westernmost corner; thence by a
right line to the northernmost corner of Section No. 34026;
thence by the last-mentioned section and Sections Nos.
26412, 8860, 34631, and 21336, and a road proceeding to and
past the north-western boundaries of Sections Nos. 29851,
33101, 32627, Education Reserve, and Section No. 32724 to
the Hinds Forks Road; thence by Section No. 21344, Shep-
herd's Bush Survey District, to the Hinds River; thence
towards the south-west by the Hinds River to the road
forming the north-western boundary of Section No. 19326;
thence again towards the south-east by that road and the
road forming the northern boundary of Section No. 25784,
Reserve No. 1003, and Section No. 25784 aforesaid, by Moor-
house Road, and Section No. 28913, Shepherd's Bush Survey
District, to the Rangitata River; thence towards the south-
west by the right bank of the Rangitata River and the right
bank of the Clyde River to the source of the latter in the
Southern Alps; and thence again towards the north by the
summit of the Southern Alps.
RAKAIA DISTRICT.
All that area in the County of Ashburton bounded
towards the north and north-east by the left bank of the
Rakaia River, from the confluence of that river and Lake
Stream to the sea; thence towards the south-east by the
sea; towards the south-west by the Chertsey Boundary
Road to the northern corner of Reserve No. 1771, Ashburton
Survey District; thence by a right line, being a continuation
of the north-western boundary-line of that reserve, across
a railway reserve to the Great South Road; thence again
towards the south-east by that road; again towards the
south-west by the road forming the south-western boundary
of Reserve No. 2376 and that road continued to the western-
most corner of Section No. 24262, Ashburton Survey Dis-
trict; thence again towards the south-east by a right line to
the southernmost corner of Section No. 27032 of the said
survey district; thence again towards the south-west by the
road forming the north-eastern boundary of Section No.
27031 and that road continued to the northernmost corner
of Section No. 27394; thence again towards the north-west
by the road forming the south-eastern boundary of Section
No. 27392; thence again towards the south-west by Sections
Nos. 27392 aforesaid, 27969, 27970, 27985, 28020, 31252,
30505, 30504, 30506, and 30509, all of the Ashburton Survey
District aforesaid, and by Sections Nos. 34170, 30966, and
34169, Spaxton Survey District, to Lyndhurst Road; thence
again towards the south-east by that road to Thompson's
Road; thence by Sections Nos. 25462 and 26862 of the said
Spaxton Survey District, and Sections Nos. 25538, 20654,
19708, 19709, 15441, 15442, 34166, and 34165, Westerfield
Survey District, and the north-western boundary-line of the
last-mentioned section produced to the north branch of the
Ashburton River; and thence again towards the south-west
by the said north branch and by Boundary Creek to the source
of the latter; thence by a right line to Mount Taylor;
thence by the summit of the Taylor Range to Clent Hills
Saddle; thence by Runs Nos. 115 and 117 to a branch of the
Rakaia River known as Lake Stream; and thence by the
left bank of that stream to the Rakaia River.
ASHBURTON DISTRICT.
All that area in the County of Ashburton bounded towards
the north-west by Section No. 30771, Reserve No. 1002, Sec-
tion No. 30168, Shepherd's Bush Survey District, and by the
north side of Moorhouse Road and the north side of the road
