straight line to the westernmost corner of Section No. 113
(agricultural lease); and thence by the Raratu No. 2 Block
to the Ohinemuri River; thence again towards the west by
a straight line to the southernmost corner of Section No. 41,
Block XIII. (agricultural lease), Ohinemuri Survey District;
thence again towards the south-west by the south-western
boundary-line of the said Section No. 41 to its westernmost
corner; thence again towards the south-west by a straight line
to the south-east corner of Te Tawaatakuao No. 1 Block;
thence by that block and a block of Native land to the
Tararaki Stream; thence across that stream and by the
Huruhuru No. 2 Block and Te Pure-o-te-Rangi No. 2 Block;
thence again towards the west generally by the last-men-
tioned block, the Aorangi Block, the Harahi No. 1 Block,
the Taiwakarewakauri Block, the Taiwakarewakauri A Block,
the Whakapoi Block, Te Komata South No. 1 Block, Te
Komata South Block, Te Komata North Block, and Te
Komata North No. 1 Block to the north-east corner of the
last-mentioned block; thence again towards the north,
west, and south by land granted to Mr. McAskill to the
road from Paeroa to the Thames; thence again towards the
south-west by that road to the Kauaerangi River; thence
again towards the south and south-west by that river to the
Firth of Thames; and thence again towards the west
generally by the low-water mark of the Firth of Thames
and the Hauraki Gulf to Cape Colville, the place of com-
mencement: save and excepting Sections Nos. 11 and 18,
Block I.; Section No. 19, Block VII.; Sections Nos. 1, 2, 3,
4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 20, and 26, Block XI.; Sections Nos. 12, 13, 15,
16, and 22, Block XV., in the Hastings Survey District,
comprising an area of 3,295 acres.

the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael
and Saint George, Companion of the Most

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in me by section five of "The Order in Council
Validation Act, 1888," and of all other powers and authorities
enabling me in that behalf, I, William Francis Drummond
Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do
hereby proclaim and declare that the County of Amuri shall
be redivided into three ridings, to be called the Hanmer
Riding, the Waiau Riding, and the Pahau Riding, and that
the boundaries of the said ridings shall be those set forth in
the Schedule hereto; and, in further pursuance of the said
powers and authorities, I do hereby appoint the number of
members to be elected for each of the said ridings to be as
follows, that is to say: For the Hanmer Riding, two mem-
bers; for the Waiau Riding, four members; and for the
Pahau Riding, two members.
And, lastly, I do hereby declare that the redivision of the
County of Amuri into three ridings as aforesaid shall take
effect on the first day of February, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-nine.
SCHEDULE.
Hanmer Riding.--Bounded towards the north-west by the
Counties of Grey, Inangalhua, and Waimea respectively,
from the southern boundary-line of License No. 112,
Marion Survey District, to Top House; thence towards the
east generally by the County of Marlborough to a point in
line with the south-eastern boundary-line of Section No. 9,
Terako Survey District; thence towards the south-east by a
right line to and thence by the said south-eastern boundary-
line to the south-eastern corner of the said Section No. 9;
thence towards the south and again towards the east by
Section No. 84, in the said Terako Survey District; again
towards the south and east generally by License No. 71, in
the Percival and Lyndon Survey Districts, to the Hanmer
River; thence again towards the south by the said Hanmer
River to the Waiau-ua River; thence again towards the
east and towards the north-east by the said Waiau-ua River
to the north-western boundary-line of Section No. 49,
Culverden Survey District; thence again towards the south-
east and south by the said Section No. 49 and Sections Nos.
90, 91, 92, 196, 195, 194, 193, 96, 97, and 98 of the said
Culverden Survey District, and Section No. 99, Mandamus
Survey District; again towards the east by the last-men-
tioned section and Sections Nos. 29, 25, and 17 of the said
Mandamus Survey District to the Pahau River; again
towards the south and towards the west by the said Pahau
River to the northern boundary-line of Section No. 59, in the
Te Koa Survey District; thence again towards the south
and south-east by the said Section No. 50 to the north-
eastern corner of Section No. 159, Mandamus Survey Dis-
trict; towards the south-west generally by the said Section
No. 159 and Sections Nos. 160 and 73 to the northernmost
corner of the last-mentioned section; thence again towards
the south-east by the said Section No. 73; again towards
the south-west and south-east generally by the south-western
boundary-lines of Licenses Nos. 111 and 110, and the
southern boundary-lines of Section No. 31, Skiddaw Survey
District, to Kiwi Creek; thence by the south-eastern
boundary of License No. 92, Marion Survey District; again
towards the south-west and towards the north-west by the
south-western and north-western boundary-lines of the said
License No. 92; and again towards the south by the
southern boundary-line of License No. 112 aforesaid.
Waiau Riding.--Bounded towards the north-east generally
by the Counties of Marlborough and Kaikoura; towards the
south-east by the County of Cheviot to a point in line with
the north-eastern boundary-line of Section No. 53, Lowry
Peaks Survey District; thence towards the south generally
by a right line to and thence by the said Section No. 53 and
Sections Nos. 54, 43, 56, and 143 of the said Lowry Peaks
Survey District, and Sections Nos. 142, 144, 12, 11, 10, 9,
and 8, Culverden Survey District, to the north-western
corner of the last-mentioned section; thence by a right line
to the northernmost corner of Section No. 247 of the said
Culverden Survey District; thence by the said Section No.
247 and Section No. 246 to the north-eastern corner of Sec-
tion No. 106; thence by a right line to the Red Post;
thence by a right line to Mount Culverden; and thence by a
right line to the north-western corner of Section No. 99,
Mandamus Survey District; and thence towards the north-
west generally by the Hanmer Riding, hereinbefore de-
scribed.
Pahau Riding.--Bounded towards the north generally by
the Ridings of Hanmer and Waiau, hereinbefore described;
towards the south-east by the County of Cheviot; towards
the south generally by the County of Ashley; and towards
the north-west by the County of Grey.
