Rural Lands in the Marlborough Land District open for
Sale or Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the second section of "The
Public Reserves Sale Act, 1888," and the third section of
"The Land Act Amendment Act, 1887" (hereinafter termed
"the said Act"), I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the
report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said
section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands
enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale
or selection, after the lapse of a period of forty-five days
from the date of the first public notification hereof, in the
manner and upon the conditions mentioned in the said Act,
and at the price per acre respectively set opposite such land
in the said Schedule.

Making Special Rate, &c.

THE following special order, made by the Patangata
County Council, is published for general information.

SPECIAL ORDER.

THAT this Council do apply to the Colonial Treasurer for a
loan of £6,000, under the provisions of the Government
Loans to Local Bodies Act, for the purpose of erecting a
traffic-bridge across the Tukituki River, at the place known
as the Wautukai Ford, and for the purchase and formation
of the road and approaches thereto. The interest on said
loan to be for the first year defrayed out of loan.

That a special rate, being an annual-recurring rate of
three-eighths of a penny in the pound, be struck on all rate-
able property in the Oero Riding, to provide interest for
succeeding years; said rate to be payable half-yearly, in two
equal instalments, on the 1st January and 1st July, for a
period of twenty-six years, from the 1st January, 1889, to
1st January, 1915.

We hereby certify that the above special order was duly
made on Wednesday, the 28th November, 1888, and con-
firmed on Wednesday, the 9th January, 1889.
