Remova of Restrictions on Alienation of Native Land.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this fifteenth
day of January, 1889.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS application has been made to the Governor
in Council by Heremaia te Wheoro and Kararaina
Henare, comprising a majority in number of the Native
owners of the land described in the second column of the
Schedule hereto, praying that the restrictions on the aliena-
tion of such land contained in the Crown grant, bearing date
the seventh day of August, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-two, described in the first column of the said Schedule,
may be removed: And whereas it appears expedient to
grant such application:
Now, therefore, His Excellency Sir William Francis Drum-
mond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by
"The Native Land Act, 1888," and acting with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony,
doth hereby order and declare that all restrictions imposed
by the said Crown grant on the alienation of the said land
are hereby removed.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the third section of "The Land
Act Amendment Act, 1887" (hereinafter termed "the said
Act"), I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of
the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is
provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands mentioned
in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection,
after the lapse of a period of forty-five days from the date of
the first public notification hereof, in the manner and upon
the conditions mentioned in the said Act, and at the price
per acre respectively set opposite such land in the said
Schedule.

prises hilly bush land. The section was formerly shown on
maps as 391 or 342.

birch forest; situate at the back of Mr. Coleman Phillips'

Weighted with £69 for cost of survey and value of im-
provements. These sections are situate in the Whareama
District, Wairarapa, at the back of, and adjacent to, Mr.
Meredith's run; and comprise rough hilly land of sandstone
formation, covered generally with light bush and scrub.
The only means of access is by the road through Section
886.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this twelfth day of January, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-nine.
