the Crown lock. Goods to be received into and delivered
from the Exhibition Building on conditions prescribed by
the Customs Regulations.
2. Duplicate invoices, containing detailed description and
value of exhibits, to be produced, which invoices will be
stamped by the Customs. One copy will be returned to the
exhibitor, and one copy retained by the Customs.
3. Exhibits to be unpacked in the presence of the Customs
officers, and checked against stamped invoices.
4. Before goods are removed from the importing vessel to
the Exhibition Building, exhibitors to indicate the particular
packages which contain goods intended for sale. These to
be placed in a separate compartment of the Exhibition
Building, or in an examining shed or ordinary bonded ware-
house, for examination by the Customs.
5. Duty to be paid by deposit on articles intended for sale
before they can be permitted to be exhibited.
6. Jewellery and other valuable dutiable goods intended
for exhibition only, and not for sale, may be exhibited in
show-cases secured under the Customs seal.
7. At the close of the Exhibition all dutiable goods to be
packed, in the presence of a Customs officer, who will be
required to certify that they agree with the invoice tendered
with them on importation, before they can be delivered for
exportation from the colony.
8. An enclosed separate office for the exclusive use of the
Customs, with necessary office-furniture, to be provided in
the Exhibition Building. The Customs officers will not have
custody of, or be in any way responsible for, goods in the
Exhibition Building: they will be present simply as revenue
officers.

cation of an invention for scolloped flange-iron ridging.

No. 3627. -WILLIAM LEGRAND CARD, residing at La Crosse,
State of Wisconsin, United States of America, Mining
Engineer, has deposited at this office a specification of an
invention for a machine for eliminating metals from their
matrices.

No. 3628. -WILLIAM LEGRAND CARD, of Saint Louis,
Missouri, United States of America, Mining Engineer, has
deposited at this office a specification of an invention for
improvements in dry concentrators for the treatment of ores.

No. 3629. -CHARLES JOSEPH VAN DEPOELE, residing at
No. 57, Center Street, Lynn, Essex, Massachusetts, United
States of America, Electrician, has deposited at this office a
specification of an invention for improvements in, and
relating to a system of suspended bare wires, travelling con-
nections between the wires and the motor and switches, &c.,
in and for electric railways.

No. 3630. -JOHN STEWART MACARTHUR, of 15, Princes
Street, Pollokshields, Renfrew, North Britain, Analytical
and Technical Chemist, has deposited at this office a specifi-
cation of an invention for improvements in obtaining cyanides
from residuary liquors formed in chemical processes.

No. 3631. -JOHN STEWART MACARTHUR, of Princes Street,
Pollokshields, Renfrew, North Britain, Analytical and
Technical Chemist, has deposited at this office a specification
of an invention for improvements in obtaining cyanides from
residuary liquors formed in chemical processes.

And I have appointed Wednesday, the 26th day of June
next, at 11 o'clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the
said applications and all objections thereto; and I require
all persons having an interest in opposing the grant of any
such Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 11th day of
June next, at this office, particulars in writing of their
objections to any of the said applications, otherwise they
will be precluded from urging the same.

Land reserved under "The Education Reserves Act, 1877."

IN exercise of the powers and authorities vested in them
by "The Education Reserves Act, 1877," the School
Commissioners for the Otago Provincial District have, by
resolution dated the 17th day of July, 1888, appropriated and
set apart the parcel of land hereinafter described as a site
for a public school.

ALL that parcel of land in the Land District of Otago, con-
taining by admeasurement 10 acres, more or less, situate in
the Inch-Clutha District, and being part of Section No. 11,
Block II., of said district. Description of boundaries: Com-
mencing at the north-east corner of said section, and bearing
from thence in a south-westerly direction (along the north-
western boundary of said section) for a distance of 1000
links; thence at a right angle for a distance of 1000 links;
thence at a right angle along the south-eastern boundary of
said Section No. 11 for a distance of 1000 links; thence at a
right angle along road-line for a distance of 1000 links to
the starting-point: be all the aforesaid linkages more or
less.

Land reserved under "The Education Reserves Act Amend-
ment Act, 1882."

IN exercise of the powers and authorities vested in it by
"The Education Reserves Act Amendment Act, 1882,"
(section 7), the Board of Governors of the Otago Boys' and
Girls' High School has, by resolution dated the 1st day of
October, 1888, appropriated and set apart the piece of land
hereinafter described as a site for a public school.
