Board, is published in accordance with "The Local
Bodies' Loans Act, 1886."

SPECIAL ORDER.
THAT, to provide for the payment of interest and other
annual charges on a loan of £400 for works on Andrewartha's
Road, a special rate of a halfpenny in the pound be levied on
the rateable value of the following properties: Sections 224,
234, 290 to 294, 297 to 304, all inclusive, Fitzherbert East.
To provide for the payment of interest and other annual
charges on a loan of £200 for works on Fitzherbert East Road,
a special rate of one-seventh of a penny in the pound be
levied on the rateable value of the following properties:
Sections 223 to part 234, 235 to 254, 360 to 367, all inclusive,
Fitzherbert East.
To provide for the payment of interest and other annual
charges on a loan of £250 for works on portions of No. 4 Line
and Tiritea Road, Fitzherbert West, a special rate of one and
three-sixteenths of a penny in the pound be levied on the
rateable value of the following properties: Sections 275A to
277, 282, 284, 331, 332, 264, 265, all inclusive, Fitzherbert
West.
Each of the above rates to be an annually-recurring rate for
a period of twenty-six years, payable in two instalments on
the 1st day of May and the 1st day of November in each
year.
I hereby certify that the foregoing special order has been
duly passed by the Manawatu Road Board.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Borough of Kaitangata.

Borough Council, is published in accordance with
"The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886."

BOROUGH OF KAITANGATA.—KAITANGATA LAKE DRAINAGE
EXTENSION.
RESULT of poll on proposal to borrow £250 under "The Local
Bodies' Loans Act, 1886," for the purpose of constructing new
channel from Molyneux River to the Kaitangata Lake, taken
in the Borough Chambers, Kaitangata, on Thursday, the 7th
day of March, 1889:—
Total number of ratepayers on roll, 18; representing 22
votes. Votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 14; votes
against, nil; votes not recorded, 8.
As a majority in number of the ratepayers voted in favour
of the proposal, and the number so voting are entitled to
more than half the number of votes which can be exercised
by the whole number of the ratepayers, I do hereby declare
the proposal carried.

Application for Registration of a Trade Mark.

NOTICE is hereby given that ALFRED HENRY HART,
of 258, Colombo Street, Christchurch, in the Colony of
New Zealand, Consulting Engineer and Patent Agent, has
applied, on behalf of WILLIAM RAINBOW AND SONS, of Ferry
Road, Christchurch, aforesaid, Manufacturers of Medicines,
&c., to register, under "The Trade Marks Act, 1866," the
trade mark of which the following is a description :—

Description of Trade Mark.
A paper label having a representation of a pineapple, over
which the word "Hop" is printed, and underneath same
the word "Bitters" is printed, and also the following, viz.,
"In order to guard against counterfeits we have adopted the
above trade mark, all persons are expressly forbidden to use
the same," and also the words "Hop Bitters, Manufactured
by Rainbow and Sons, Christchurch, N.Z." An autograph
signature "Rainbow & Sons" is printed across the label,
the said label being used in conjunction with a filigree-paper
capsule for covering the cork, having the words "Rainbow
& Sons" printed thereon in duplicate, and also the word
"Genuine" at each end, and an angular paper label having
the words "Al quality" printed thereon.

Nature of the Article to which it is intended such Trade
Mark shall apply.

Revocation of Appointment of Bonding Warehouse.

CUSTOMS.—In exercise of the authority in me for this
purpose vested, I, the Commissioner of Trade and Cus-
toms, do, by this order under my hand, revoke and annul the
appointment of the under-mentioned warehouse for the
reception and security of goods entered to be warehoused
without payment of duty upon the first entry thereof,
namely,—

of the 29th April, 1884.
