Notice of Hearing of Applications for Patents.

NO. 3609.-JOB OSBORNE, of Doyleston, Canterbury, New
Zealand, Farmer, has deposited at this office a speci-
fication of an invention for a valve to be attached to rods
used in sinking artesian wells.
No. 3610.-HARRY SAMUEL MOORE, of Scarborough Ter-
race, Wellington, New Zealand, Shopman, has deposited at
this office a specification of an invention for Moore's self-
separating ash and cinder stove-bin.
No. 3611.-EDWARD HASSELBACH, of Melbourne, Victoria,
Telegraph Engineer, has deposited at this office a specifica-
tion of an invention for a combined postal electric signal-
alarm and telephone-pillar.
No. 3613.-CHARLES HALLETT, of No. 13, Exchange, Collins
Street West, in the City of Melbourne and Colony of Victoria,
Importer, has deposited at this office a specification of an
invention for an improved method of utilising telegraph,
lamp, and other posts or standards for advertising purposes.
No. 3614.-JOSEPH JAMES MACKY, of Auckland, New Zea-
land, Commission Agent, and JOHN MITCHELL, of the same
place, Architect, have deposited at this office a specification
of an invention for improvements in the construction and
manufacture of nails, to be known as "The Acme Nails."
No. 3615.-JOHN HODGSON LEE, of Te Puke, Tauranga,
Auckland, New Zealand, has deposited at this office a speci-
fication of an invention called "The Archimedean Plough."
And I have appointed Tuesday, the 18th day of June
next, at 11 o'clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the
said applications and all objections thereto; and I require all
persons having an interest in opposing the grant of any such
Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 3rd day of June
next, at this office, particulars in writing of their objections
to any of the said applications, otherwise they will be pre-
cluded from urging the same.

Australia, have deposited at this office a specification of an
invention for an improved apparatus for recording numbers
or words in combination with a contrivance for printing or
embossing.
And I have appointed Friday, the 31st day of January next,
at 11 o'clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the
said application and all objections thereto; and I require
all persons having an interest in opposing the grant of
such Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 16th day of
January next, at this office, particulars in writing of their
objections to the said application, otherwise they will be
precluded from urging the same.

IT is hereby notified that the lands included in the
Schedule hereunder will be offered for lease by public
auction, as provided for by "The Land Act, 1885" (sections
197 to 219 inclusive, Part VII.), "The Land Act Amendment
Act, 1887 (section 25), at the Crown Lands Office, Auckland,
on Tuesday, the 30th April next, at 11 a.m.

Conditions: Absolute lease for 21 years, with right of renewal
after valuation; full valuation for improvements at end of
lease; right to cultivate in addition to pasturage; no right of
purchase. Existing roads and tracks remain in force, and
the Government has the right at any time to take roads
required for public purposes, excepting over 150 acres in
each run round selector's homestead. No one can lease
more than one section. Residence compulsory within twelve
months, and thereafter for six years, except by consent of
Land Board as provided for by Act. Improvements equalling
four years' rental by the end of first six years. One-fourth
of rents for first fifteen years is expended in opening roads,
&c., to benefit the lands. The first half-year's rent to be paid
on the day of sale, which will represent that due on the 1st
September following; thereafter rent to be paid on the 1st
March and 1st September.

tion, for cash only, in terms of section 92 of "The
Land Act, 1885," at the Land Office, Auckland, on and after
Wednesday, the 24th April, 1889.
