The jury found it necessary to divide this important class
of exhibits into subsections for the purpose of comparison;
the preserved meats and soups comprising 78 subsections,
and the fish and preserved fish 46. In some instances
special first awards were made, as the jury did not consider
that a first award sufficiently marked their opinion of the
excellence of the exhibits. It is also noted that in every
instance the jury was unanimous in arriving at its decisions.
