NOTICE is hereby given that SCLANDERS AND COM-
PANY, of Christchurch and Nelson, in the Colony of
New Zealand, Merchants, have applied to register, under
"The Trade Marks Act, 1866," the trade mark of which the
following is a description:----

Description of Trade Mark.
The representation of a pyramid printed in red above the
words "Pure Ceylon Tea," also printed in red.

Nature of the Article to which it is intended such Trade
Mark shall apply.

NOTICE is hereby given that Messrs. BELL, GULLY, AND
IZARD, of Wellington, in the Colony of New Zealand,
Solicitors, have applied, on behalf of SYDNEY GROSS, of York
Road, King's Cross, London, England, to register, under
"The Trade Marks Act, 1866," the trade mark of which the
following is a description :-

Description of Trade Mark.
An oblong figure with a black border divided into two
parts. On the right side is a representation of the head and
forepart of a monkey, holding a fryingpan in its hand, in
which its countenance is reflected. On the upper part of the
left side are the words "Brooke's Soap," and on the lower
part the words "Monkey Brand." Applicant reserves the
right of increasing or decreasing the size of the label, and of
depicting the mark in any colour or colours.

Nature of the Article to which it is intended such Trade
Mark shall apply.

Revocation of Appointment of Bonding Warehouse.

CUSTOMS.--In exercise of the authority in me for this
purpose vested, I, the Commissioner of Trade and
Customs, do, by this order under my hand, revoke and annul
the appointment of the under-mentioned warehouse for the
reception and security of goods entered to be warehoused
without payment of duty upon the first entry thereof, viz.:-

Port of Auckland.
The warehouse known as
ISAAC'S BOND,
as appointed and described in Commissioner's Order No. 82,
of the 1st July, 1875.

Given under my hand, at Wellington, this twenty-sixth
day of March, one thousand eight hundred and

Notice to Mariners, No. 7 of 1889.

Wellington, 21st March, 1889

WITH reference to Notice to Mariners, No. 3 of 1889,
issued by this department, the following corrected
notice regarding the exhibition of a light on Eddystone
Point, East Coast, Tasmania, received from the Marine
Board, Hobart, is published for general information.

CORRECTED NOTICE TO MARINERS. - EXHIBITION OF FLASH-
ING LIGHT ON EDDYSTONE POINT, EAST COAST, TASMANIA.

WITH reference to the preliminary notice issued by this
Board, dated the 7th day of March, 1888, and to the notice
No. 13, issued the 7th day of January, 1889, it is hereby
notified that on and after the 1st day of May, 1889, from
sunset to sunrise a light will be exhibited from the light-
house which has been erected on Eddystone Point, the posi-
tion and characteristics of which are as follows:-

The Eddystone Lighthouse is situated in latitude 40° 59'
40" S., longitude 148° 20′ 50″ E. (approximate).

The light will be 142ft. above the mean sea-level, and the
bright part of it will be visible in clear weather, at the
height of 10ft., seventeen and a half miles.

It is a first order dioptric flashing light, showing every
half-minute bright triple flashes from N. 22° W. (which will
clear the rocks off St. Helen's Point one mile) round easterly
to S. 3° W., which will clear the Salamander Rock one mile,
and red sectors will show from S. 3° W. to S. 48° E. (covering
the Salamander Rock, Eucalyptus Rock, and other dangers
in that vicinity), and from N. 22° W. round S. to. N. 14° E.

A red subsidiary light, placed 60ft. to the eastward of the
tower, will also be exhibited at the same time, with a radius
of two and a half miles, at a height of 15ft. above the mean
sea-level. This will clear the Victoria Rocks one and a half
miles.

Reward of £10,000 offered for the Discovery of New Gold-
fields. - Amended Conditions.

Mines Department,
Wellington, 30th April, 1888.

REWARDS of £10,000 are offered for the discovery of new
goldfields, upon the amended conditions set forth
hereunder.

AMENDED CONDITIONS.

  1. The maximum sum offered as a reward for any proved
    discovery of a new goldfield in accordance with these condi-
    tions is £5,000 for the North Island, and £5,000 for the
    Middle Island.

  2. The newly-discovered goldfield must be situated not
    less than forty miles from any existing goldfield or any
    existing workings.

  3. No reward shall be payable until 50,000 ounces of gold
    have been produced from the newly-discovered goldfield
    within three years from the date of its being registered.

  4. Any person discovering new gold-workings, and being
    desirous of obtaining the reward, shall immediately forward
    a written report of such discovery, with full particulars, to
    the Warden or Resident Magistrate of the district within
    which such discovery shall be situated, and the Warden or
    Resident Magistrate shall forthwith register the report as an
    application for reward.
