London, England, Lamp Manufacturer, has deposited
at this office a specification of an invention for improvements
in oil lamps.
No. 3597. - WILLIAM AUGUSTUS ELLIOTT, of Bridge House,
Hopkins Street, Footscray, Melbourne, Victoria, has deposited
at this office a specification of an invention for an improved
rotary heel-motor for boots and shoes.
No. 3598. - JOHN SAMPSON ROBERTS, of Oamaru, Otago,
New Zealand, Chaff-cutter, has deposited at this office a
specification of an invention for an improved knife-wheel to
facilitate the removal and sharpening of the knives in chaff-
cutters, to be called "Roberts's Patent Knife-wheel and
Automatic Self-sharpener for Chaff-cutters."
No. 3599. - JOHN BECK, of Wellington, New Zealand,
Timber Merchant, has deposited at this office a specification
of an invention for an improvement in rebated joints suitable
for any material, but especially for rebated rusticated board-
ing, to be known as "Beck's Patent Rebated Joint."
No. 3600. - EDWIN TOMS, of Peters Street, in the City of
Wellington, New Zealand, Carpenter, and DAVID RAIT, of
Hopper Street, in the said city, Plumber, have deposited at
this office a specification of an invention for the improved
colonial automatic water-flush.
No. 3602. - JOHN ANDREW HENRY THEODORE RANFT,
Mining Engineer, and EDWARD JANITZKY, Metallurgist, both
of Sydney, New South Wales, have deposited at this office a
specification of an invention for an improved process of
extracting copper from ores and products containing the
same as sulphide. (A communication from Josef Perino, of
Charlottenburg, Germany, Chemist.)
And I have appointed Friday, the 14th day of June next,
at 11 o'clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the
said applications and all objections thereto; and I require
all persons having an interest in opposing the grant of any
such Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 30th day of
May next, at this office, particulars in writing of their
objections to any of the said applications, otherwise they
will be precluded from urging the same.

Application for Rehearing of Claim dismissed.
NATIVE LAND COURT, NEW ZEALAND:
DISTRICT OF AUCKLAND.
IN the matter of a decision of this Court given during a
session opened at Opotiki, Bay of Plenty, on the 26th
day of July, 1888, upon the hearing of a claim for investigation
of title to land known as Oamaru; and in the matter of all
applications made to this Court in writing within three
months after such decision was given, by Natives thinking
themselves aggrieved thereby, for a rehearing upon the
aforesaid claim:
Upon inquiry in open Court as to the said applications for
rehearing, held at Opotiki, on the 22nd day of February,
1889, by the Chief Judge, assisted by Nikorima Poutotara,
an Assessor of the Court:
I, Hugh Garden Seth Smith, Chief Judge of the said
Court, in exercise of the authority in that behalf vested in
me, do hereby dismiss all such applications.
