SCHEDULE.
MAKAREWA-HEDGEHOPE RIVER DISTRICT.
All that area in the County of Southland, situate in the
Hundreds of Forest Hill, Mabel, New River, and Invercargill, containing by admeasurement 7,400 acres, more or less.
Bounded towards the north by Section No. 288, Forest Hill
Hundred, from its south-western corner to the Makarewa
River; thence towards the north-east generally by the said
Makarewa River and the north-eastern boundary-line of
Section No. 184, Forest Hill Hundred, to the north-eastern
corner of that section; thence by Sections Nos. 185, 182, and
87 of the said Forest Hill Hundred to the south-western
corner of the last-mentioned section; thence by the road
forming the south-western boundary of the last-mentioned
section and the southern side of that road produced across
the Hedgehope Stream to the road intersecting Section No.
132; thence towards the south-east by that road to a point
due north of the western boundary-line of Section No. 26,
Mabel Hundred; thence towards the east by a right line to
and thence by the said Section No. 26; thence towards the
south and south-east generally by Section No. 23, Mabel
Hundred, to the road forming the western boundary of that
section; thence by the last-mentioned road and Section No.
10, Mabel Hundred, to the road forming the north-eastern
and north-western boundaries of Section No. 2; thence by
that road and Sections Nos. 27 and 28 to the road at the
south-western boundary of the last-mentioned section;
thence by Sections Nos. 26 and 16, Mabel Hundred, to the
road at the south-western boundary of the said Section No.
16; thence by the last-mentioned road and the road forming
the north-western boundaries of Sections Nos. 9 and 2, Mabel
Hundred aforesaid; thence by Section No. 2 to the road at
its south-western boundary; thence by that road and the
road forming the north-western boundaries of Section No. 2
and a bush reserve, containing 104 acres 3 roods 15 perches,
in Block XVIII., Invercargill Hundred, to the Makarewa
River; thence towards the west by the said Makarewa River
to a point in line with the eastern side of the road forming
the eastern boundary of Section No. 27, New River Hundred;
thence by a right line to and thence by the last-mentioned
road to the road forming the northern boundary of the said
Section No. 27; thence towards the south by that road and
its continuation to Section No. 12, Block X., New River
Hundred; thence again towards the west by the said Section
No. 12; again towards the north by Sections Nos. 8 and 9 of
the said Block X.; again towards the west by the road
forming the eastern boundary of the last-mentioned section
to the road intersecting Section No. 205, Forest Hill Hundred;
thence again towards the north by the last-mentioned road
and its continuation through Section No. 292 to Section No.
290; thence by the road forming part of the northern
boundary of the last-mentioned section; thence by the said
Section No. 292 and Section No. 173 to the road forming the
south-eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 173 and 260,
Forest Hill Hundred; thence towards the west generally by
the last-mentioned road to the westernmost corner of Section
No. 140; thence by a right line to the south-western corner
of Section No. 172; thence by Section No. 260 aforesaid to
the north-western corner of the said Section No. 172; thence
by a right line to the junction of roads at the western
boundary of Section No. 154; thence by the road forming
the south-eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 260, 147, and
262 to the north-western corner of Section No. 155; thence
by the road intersecting Section No. 262, Forest Hill Hundred,
and by the road forming part of the eastern boundary of
Section No. 298, the southern and eastern boundaries of
Section No. 296, and part of the eastern boundary of Section
No. 297 to the place of commencement.

in Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable
Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, at the Government House, at Wel-
ington, this twenty-first day of November, in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-eight.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this thirtieth
day of October, 1888.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto
is required to be taken for a public road to be con-
structed by the Masterton Road Board: And whereas the
said land is Native land, and the title to same is not derived
from the Crown:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
vested in him by “The Public Works Acts Amendment Act,
1887,” and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in
this behalf, His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond
Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
said colony, doth hereby order that a public road, as shown
on the plan mentioned below, may be constructed on or
through the parcel of land more particularly mentioned in
the Schedule hereto.

IN exercise of the powers in me for this purpose vested by
“The Customs Laws Consolidation Act, 1882,” I, Wil-
liam Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, do hereby appoint that, from and after the
date hereof, the wharf known as
QUAY STREET JETTY No. 2
shall be deemed and taken to be a legal landing-place at the
Port of Auckland for the lading and unlading of goods,
under “The Customs Laws Consolidation Act, 1882.”
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this nineteenth day of November, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-eight.

IN exercise of the powers in me for this purpose vested by
“The Customs and Excise Duties Act, 1888,” I, William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand, do hereby direct that, from and after the date
hereof, there shall be levied upon the article known as
“leather-board” or “compo.,” and used as a substitute for
sole-leather, a duty of one penny the lb.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this nineteenth day of November, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-eight.
