Land set apart on Deferred Payments in Southland.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the one hundred and fourth section of
"The Land Act, 1885," it is enacted that the
Governor, by Proclamation in the Gazette, may from time to
time set apart out of any suburban or rural lands such
blocks or allotments of land as he shall think fit, and set
the same aside for sale on deferred payments, and in such
Proclamation may fix a day on which the land shall be open
for application; and that he may also in like manner set
apart for sale on deferred payments such blocks or allot-
ments as may be recommended by any Land Board, and
may also from time to time alter, amend, or revoke any such
Proclamation:

And whereas the Land Board of Southland has passed a
resolution recommending that the land described in the
Schedule hereto annexed should be set apart for sale on de-
ferred payments:

And whereas it is expedient to give effect to the aforesaid
recommendation, and to set apart the said land accordingly:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance
and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the
above-named Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the
land described in the Schedule hereto is set apart for sale on
deferred payments; and that Wednesday, the nineteenth
day of December, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
eight, shall be the day on which the said land shall be open
for application, as surveyed and marked on the selection
map in the principal land office of the district.

And, in pursuance of the one hundred and tenth section
of "The Land Act, 1885," I do hereby fix the price at which
the land so described shall be sold to be the price stated
in the Schedule hereto.

-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, at the Government House, at Wel-
ington, this nineteenth day of November, in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-eight.

Abolishing and Constituting the Marlborough Mining District.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me
by "The Mining Act, 1886" (hereinafter termed "the
said Act"), I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby abolish
the Marlborough Mining Districts, as constituted by Procla-
mation published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 36, of the
twenty-eighth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-eight, and I do hereby constitute and appoint in lieu
thereof the portions of the colony particularly described in
the Schedule hereto, which shall be designated the Marl-
borough Mining District; and I do hereby further proclaim
and declare that this Proclamation shall take effect as from
the first day of December next.

SCHEDULE.

MARLBOROUGH MINING DISTRICT.

All that area in the Provincial District of Marlborough
bounded towards the north and west generally by the Pro-
vincial District of Nelson, from Tophouse to the Pelorus
River, and by that river to the waters of Pelorus Sound;
thence by the waters of Pelorus Sound to the south-western
boundary of Section No. 2, Ohingaroa Bay, Linkwater
Survey District; thence by a right line to the south-western
boundary-line of Section No. 152 of the said survey dis-
trict, and by that boundary produced to Okiwa Bay;
thence by the waters of Queen Charlotte Sound to Reserve
D, Town of Picton, and by that reserve to Wellington Street;
thence by Wellington Street and London Quay to the Picton
and Blenheim Railway-line; thence by that line to the
Wairau River; and thence by that river to the commencing-
point: excepting from the above area Section No. 1, Block
XIV., Linkwater Survey District; and Sections Nos. 1 to
33 inclusive, Block X., Wakamarina Survey District, within
the aforesaid boundaries.

Also all that area in the Provincial District of Marlborough
bounded towards the north and north-west by Port Gore,
from the southern boundary-line of Titirangi Run to Cape
Jackson; thence towards the south-east generally by Queen
Charlotte Sound to Section No. 111, Linkwater Survey Dis-
trict, in Torea Mout Bay; thence again towards the north-
west by said Section No. 111; again towards the north and
towards the west by Section No. 93, Linkwater Survey Dis-
trict, to the summit of the watershed between Kenepuru
Sound and Queen Charlotte Sound; thence again towards
the north-west by the summit of the said watershed and the
summit of the watershed between Pelorus Sound and Queen
Charlotte Sound, over Mount Stokes, to Titirangi Run afore-
said; and thence again towards the north by that run to
Port Gore, the place of commencement.

Constituting the Makarewa-Hedgehope River District, County of Southland.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities
vested in me by "The River Boards Act, 1884," I, Wil-
liam Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that, from
and after the date hereof, that part of the said colony de-
scribed in the Schedule hereto shall be and the same is
hereby constituted a district under the said Act, and shall
be known by the name of the Makarewa-Hedgehope River
District; and that the number of the members who are to
constitute the Board of the said district shall be five. And
I do also proclaim and declare that William Graham Fox,
of Invercargill, shall be the Returning Officer to conduct
the first elections of five members of the aforesaid Board;
that Wednesday, the nineteenth day of December, one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, shall be the time,
and the house of Mr. James Fleming shall be the place, for
holding such first election; and that Friday, the twenty-
first day of December, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-eight, at seven o'clock in the evening, shall be the
time, and the said house of Mr. James Fleming shall be the
place, at which the first meeting of the members of the
Board of the said river district shall be held. And, lastly,
I do proclaim and declare that the aforesaid William
Graham Fox shall be the person to make a roll of electors
