line border. On the oblong label is the device of the Royal
arms of Great Britain, with the words "By Royal Letters
Patent" on a scroll, above which are the words "Purveyors
to Her Majesty," below are the words "Robinson's Patent
Groats for making superior gruel," followed by the descriptive
matter appearing on the label, below which are the words
"Prepared only and sold wholesale and for exportation by
Keen, Robinson, & Co., Purveyors to Her Majesty, 64, Red
Lion Street, Holborn, London. That only is genuine which
bears the word Patent, the Royal arms, and the signature of,"
followed by the facsimile signature "Matts. Robinson."

No. 2 consists of an oblong label divided into nine spaces
by lines. In the centre space is a shell with the words
thereon "Keen's Oxford Blue;" in the spaces on either side
thereof is the device of a shell in a circular line and border.
In the top centre space are the words "The delight of the
laundry" on two scrolls, and the word "London" on a band.
In the corner centre space are the words "Keen's Oxford
Blue," on two scrolls the words "Gold Medal."

No. 3 consists of an oblong label divided in three portions,
the right-hand portion bearing the words "Keen's Mustard,"
and the British Royal arms with the other words in the
accompanying label appearing at the foot, being the pictures
of five Exhibition medals and the words "Medals awarded,
three gold, including grand gold, one silver, and two bronze."
In the centre portion of the label, surrounded by a double-
lined border with ornamental edges, are the words "Keen's
Mustard" with the other words in the accompanying table ;
at top thereof a band with the words "national condiment"
thereon across an oval bearing the words "Registered Trade
Mark" at the foot, being a band bearing the words and
figures "A.D. 1742" on an oval bearing the words "first
manufactured." In the left-hand portion, surrounded by a
double-lined border with ornamental edges, are the words
"Keen's Mustard," and a shell like a cockleshell in the
middle of a circle with twelve radiating points, and on either
side a scroll bearing the words and figures "A.D. 1742." At
the top are five Exhibition medals, and at the foot the word
"London" on an oblong panel.

Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade
Marks shall apply.

No. 1. Groats.
No. 2. Blue for laundry purposes.
No. 3. Mustard.

New Plymouth, New Zealand, to register, under "The
Trade Marks Act, 1866," the trade mark of which the
following is a description:—

The words "Factory," "Pure," and "Butter," placed one
above the other, and printed in capital letters; above the
word "Factory" is the representation of a crown, and
between the words "Factory" and "Pure" is a line broken
in the centre by a dot.

Special Order made by Eden Terrace Road Board, County
of Eden.—Waterworks By-laws.

THE following special order, made by the Eden Terrace
Road Board, is published in accordance with "The
Road Boards Act, 1882."

By-laws of the Body Corporate called The Eden Terrace
Road Board, made in pursuance of "The Road Boards
Act, 1882," and "The Road Boards Act 1882 Amendment
Act, 1888," on the 6th September, 1888. (Confirmed by
special order, and stamped with the common seal of
the said body corporate, on the 9th day of October,
1888.)

In pursuance of sections 126 to 131 of "The Road Boards
Act, 1882," both inclusive, and Part I. of "The Road Boards
Act 1882 Amendment Act, 1888," the Eden Terrace Road
Board hereby make and levy the following rates, and declare
the following as the conditions upon which the said Road
Board will supply water on all rateable properties within the
Eden Terrace Road District from this date:—

EXPLANATION OF TERMS USED.

"Ordinary supply" shall mean only water used for strictly
domestic purposes, and the Board reserves the right to deter-
mine what shall be considered a supply for strictly domestic
purposes.

"Extraordinary supply" shall mean water used for any
other than purposes of "ordinary supply," and may be
charged extra accordingly.

ORDINARY SUPPLY.

  1. On all properties in the Eden Terrace Road District—
    (1) the annual value of which does not exceed £12 10s., a rate
    of 12s. 6d. per annum; (2) exceeding £12 10s. and not exceed-
    ing £18, 5 per cent. per annum; (3) exceeding £18 and not
    exceeding £30, 4 per cent. per annum, but not less for any
    tenement than 18s. per annum; (4) exceeding £30, 3½ per
    cent. per annum, but not less for any tenement than £1 4s.
    per annum.

NON-CONSUMERS' RATE.

  1. Upon all buildings in the said district used as dwellings
    only to which water can be, but is not, supplied, situate
    within 100 yards from any part of the waterworks con-
    structed by and now vested in the said Road Board, a rate
    of one-half of the rates above mentioned.

If not supplied by meter:—

  1. Urinals in hotels and manufacturing establishments,
    £2 per annum each; if more than three in any one premises
    a reduction of 20 per cent. shall be made.

  2. Urinals in private establishments, £1 per annum each.

  3. Baths in hotels, first class, having ten or more bed-
    rooms, £3 per annum each.

  4. Baths in hotels, second-class, having less than ten bed-
    rooms, £2 per annum each.

  5. Baths in lodging- and boarding-houses, £2 per annum
    each.

  6. No overflow-pipe allowed to baths.

EXTRAORDINARY SUPPLY BY METER.

  1. Manufacturers desiring to be supplied by meter may
    be so supplied, on such terms as may be arranged by the
    Board.

  2. Minimum amount charged for, 5,000 gallons per quar-
    ter.

  3. Applications for water shall be made to the water-
    supply office at the office of the said Board, and all necessary
    forms shall be obtained there.

  4. Water-rates for such supply shall be payable half-
    yearly in advance, and new applications for service shall be
    accompanied by the tender of a sum equal to the rate for
    the broken period of the current half-year commencing three
    days after the date of application; except the payments be
    made within two months prior to the end of the half-year,
    in which case payment shall be made to the end of the
    second half-year.

  5. Temporary taps, as per agreement with the Water
    Committee.

  6. At stand-pipes any quantity not exceeding 400 gal-
    lons, 5s.

  7. Hose for gardens or other purposes (excepting fire-
    extinguishing and domestic purposes), £2 per annum each.
    No hose-attachment allowed unless paid for by meter or
    otherwise.

  8. Stables, 7s. 6d. per horse per annum for the maximum
    number kept at any time during such period.

  9. Cow, mule, or ass, 5s. each.

  10. Builders may be supplied by meter at 2s. 6d. per 1,000
    gallons, and they shall deposit the cost of the meter, which
    shall be retained as security that the meter is left in good
