SPECIAL ORDER passed by the Whareama Road Board at a Meeting held on Friday, the 28th September, 1888.

THAT a special rate of one-fifth of a penny in the pound be now made for the purpose of providing the interest and sinking fund upon a loan of £800, borrowed under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for re-forming and metal-ling portions of the Blairlogie Road. Such special rate shall be an annually-recurring rate, and shall be payable half-yearly, on the 1st days of February and August in each year, for twenty-six years, until the loan is paid off; first payment payable as from the 1st day of August, 1888, and shall be levied on the rateable value of the following properties within the Whareama Road District: All that part of Subdivision No. 1 lying to the eastward of Sections Nos. 629, 528, 526, and 520; the whole of Subdivision No. 2, that portion of Subdivision No. 3 lying to the westward of the district road, excepting Sections Nos. 892 and 893, and including the area in Section No. 32 excluded from the Wairongo Trust Estate. Also Sections Nos. 900, 784, 785, 776, 780, 779, part of Sections Nos. 782 (500 acres), 771, and 773 in Subdivision No. 4.

I hereby certify that the above special order has been duly passed as required by section 75 of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

Special Order made by Hutt County Council.—Changing Name of Kilbirnie Road District to Seatown.

SPECIAL ORDER.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it by “The Counties Act, 1886,” and “The Road Boards Act Amendment Act, 1884,” and a petition of the ratepayers of the Kilbirnie Road District, the Council of the County of Hutt resolves as follows:—

That the name of the Kilbirnie Road District be changed to the Seatown Road District, and that the above change of name take effect from and after the date of gazetting.

Passed by this Council at a special meeting, the 14th August, 1888. Confirmed by the Council this 9th day of October, 1888.

WANGANUI COUNTY COUNCIL.—DENLAIR SUBDIVISION.

RESULT of the poll of the ratepayers of the above subdivision, taken at the residence of Mr. D. McKay, on Saturday, the 6th day of October, 1888, for the proposal to borrow £300 under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886:”—

Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 9 ratepayers, representing 11 votes. Number of votes recorded against the proposal, nil.

A majority in the number of the ratepayers of the above subdivision having recorded their votes in favour of the proposal, and the number so voting being entitled to more than one-half of the votes which can be exercised by the whole number of ratepayers, I hereby declare the resolution in favour of the proposal duly carried.

Special Order made by Whataupoko Road Board, County of Cook.

THE following special order, made by the Whataupoko Road Board, is published in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER made by the Whataupoko Road District Board on the 11th October, 1888.

RESOLVED, That this Board do now proceed, by special order, to make a special rate of nine-sixteenths of a penny in the pound on all rateable property in this district, for a period of twenty-six years, commencing on the 12th day of October, 1888, and ending on the 11th day of October, 1914, to be due and payable, in two equal instalments, on the 1st day of January and on the 1st day of June in each year.

This rate is made to provide the interest on a sum of £2,300, authorised by the ratepayers to be obtained from the Government, in terms of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

I hereby certify that the foregoing special order was made in accordance with law, and that all the requirements of “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” have been fully complied with.

Alterations to the Scale of Charges in force on the New Zealand Railways.

IN accordance with section 144 of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” I, Edwin Mitchelson, the Minister for Public Works, do hereby make the following alterations to the scale of charges:—

PART III.—GOODS.

To come into force on and after 1st December, 1888.

REGULATIONS.

(3.) Class E.—Grain and other Agricultural Produce.

Minimum quantity, 1½ tons. Any less quantity will be charged as such minimum, or rate and a half, Class E, but not to exceed Class D. In computation under scale for small lots, rate and a half, Class E, will be used.
