NOTICE.—WILLIAM JAMES CALDER, a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria, has been appointed this day, by His Honour Mr. Justice Williams, a Commissioner of the Supreme Court of New Zealand in the Colony of Victoria, under “The Commissioners of the Supreme Court Act, 1875,” for the purpose of administering and taking all oaths, affidavits, and affirmations, and also for taking the acknowledgments of married women.

NOTICE is hereby given that EDWARD WATERS, Patent Agent, of Melbourne, in the Colony of Victoria, has applied, for and on behalf of W. D. AND H. O. WILLS, of Bedminster, Bristol, and Holborn Viaduct, London, Tobacco and Cigar Manufacturers, to register, under the provisions of “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade marks numbered 1 and 2, of which the following is a description:—
Description of Trade Marks.
No. 1 is an oblong label having thereon the figure of a girl, in picturesque costume, looking out over a landscape with mountains in the distance. In the foreground are trees and shrubs. Across the label is the device of a star, and the words “Trade Mark” over the head of the girl; and also on the face of the label are the words “Diamond Queen;” and below the girl are the letters and words “W. D. & H. O. Wills, Bristol and London.”
No. 2 is an oblong label divided by lines into four spaces. In the left-hand narrow space is the device of a star and the words “Trade Mark” upon a background of conventional design. In the adjoining space is the device of a man in picturesque costume, holding a scimitar in his hand, standing on board a ship, with a background of sea and sky; above the man are the words and marks “Pirate,” and below him the letters and words “W. D. & H. O. Wills.” The next space is filled with a background of conventional design. In the fourth space are two circular spaces on a background of conventional design. In the upper space is the scene of men firing guns in action on board ship, and in the lower space, which overlaps the upper one, is the picture of two ships in the action; between the two are a curved band with the word “Pirate” thereon, and a straight band to be used for containing the description of the goods.
Nature of the Article to which it is intended such Trade Marks shall apply.

NOTICE is hereby given that EDWARD WATERS, Patent Agent, of Melbourne, in the Colony of Victoria, for and on behalf of SAMUEL ALLSOPP AND SONS, LIMITED, of Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, Brewers, has, under the provisions of “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” applied to register a trade mark of the following description:—
Description of Trade Mark.
A label composed of an outer and inner oval. In the space between the ovals at the top is the word “Allsopp’s,” the space between them at the bottom being reserved for the insertion of words having reference to the nature or description of the goods sold, to which the label is applied. Across the middle of the label, breaking the inner oval, is a band bearing the words “This label is issued by us,” below which words is a facsimile signature “Samuel Allsopp & Sons,” and the word “Limited”; a smaller band, bounded at each end by the circumference of the inner oval, and directly under the large band, bears the words “Brewers, Burton-on-Trent.” Across and extending above and below these bands is an open hand, the fingers pointing upwards, and the words “Trade Mark” below it. Below and on either side of the hand, above the band, are spaces reserved for the insertion of the name and address of the agent, and other printed matter relating to the goods sold. The said trade mark is printed in black or other colours on various-coloured grounds, and the right is claimed to use the same in any colour or combination of colours.
Nature of the Article to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply.
