A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS it has been found desirable, for the use,
convenience, and enjoyment of the Waitaki-Bluff
Railway, to take further land at Clinton, in addition to land
previously acquired for the purposes of the said railway:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of
the powers and authorities conferred on me by "The Public
Works Act, 1882," and of every other power and authority in
anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and
declare that the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is
hereby taken for the purposes above mentioned.

in Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of
the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael
and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honour-
able Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, at the Government House, at Wel-

Vesting Control of the Bridge over North Branch of the
Tokomairiro River, at Milton.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section four of "The Public Works Acts
Amendment Act, 1887" (hereinafter termed "the
said Act"), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor may,
upon the terms and conditions in the said section men-
tioned, by Proclamation publicly notified, direct that any
bridge already constructed, or which may hereafter be
constructed, over or across any river or arm of the sea
respectively, shall, from and after a date to be fixed in such
Proclamation, be under the exclusive care, control, and
management of such local authority as shall be mentioned
in that behalf in such Proclamation:

And whereas it is expedient that the control and manage-
ment of the bridge described in the Schedule hereto should
be vested in the manner hereinafter described:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by
the said Act, and of every other power and authority in any-
wise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby direct that the
bridge mentioned in the Schedule hereto, and known as the
bridge over the north branch of the Tokomairiro River, at
Milton, shall, from and after the date of the first publication
hereof in the Bruce Herald newspaper, be under the exclusive
care, control, and management of the Bruce County Council;
and I do hereby fix and determine that the Bruce County
Council shall itself provide out of its own funds two-thirds
of the cost of managing and maintaining the said bridge;
and that the Milton Borough Council shall, on demand in
writing from the said Bruce County Council, pay to the said
Council from time to time one-third of the actual cost of
managing and maintaining the said bridge.

SCHEDULE.

THAT bridge over the north branch of the Tokomairiro River,
and the approaches on each side thereof, on the main South
Road from Dunedin to Balclutha, being a prolongation in a
south-western direction of Union Street, in the Borough of
Milton, in the Provincial District of Otago; as the same is
delineated on the plans marked P.W.D. 15631, deposited in
the office of the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington,
in the Provincial District of Wellington, and thereon marked
in red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General
in Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of
the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael
and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable
