and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes above mentioned; and, further, that, subject hereto, the said land shall vest in the Corporation of the said borough on and after the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington; this fourth day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.

Declaring that certain Land at Lyttelton shall be kept free from Obstruction for Defence Purposes.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the land mentioned and described in the Schedule hereto is required to be kept free from obstruction, under “The Public Works Act 1882 Amendment Act, 1885,” for defence purposes: And whereas all notices and acts required by law to be given and done have been duly given and performed, and no objection having been made to the requirement that the said land shall be kept free from obstruction, the Minister for Public Works has laid before the Governor a memorial containing a list of the land which is to be kept free from obstruction as aforesaid, together with a map showing accurately the position and extent thereof, as required by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and the Acts amending the same:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and “The Public Works Act 1882 Amendment Act, 1885,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land mentioned and described in the Schedule hereto shall be kept free from obstruction for defence purposes within the meaning and for the purposes of the last-mentioned Act; and it is hereby declared that this Proclamation shall take effect from and after the date of the first publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette.
