Times and Places for Payment of Duties under “The Property-tax Act, 1888.”

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this eleventh day of September, 1888.

His Excellency the Governor in Council.
IN pursuance of the power and authority vested in him under “The Property-tax Act, 1888,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and direct that the several duties leviable under the said Act shall be paid on the days and in the manner hereinafter particularly mentioned, that is to say, —

In respect of the duty of one penny, where the amount of such duty shall be under fifteen pounds, the same shall be paid on the sixth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight; and where such duty amounts to fifteen pounds, or exceeds that sum, the same shall be paid in two equal instalments, the first of such instalments being payable on the said sixth day of November, and the second of such instalments on the fifth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine.

In respect of the duty on fire, marine, accident, fidelity, live-stock, plate-glass, or guarantee policies, issued by any insurance company, the same shall be paid on the fifth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine.
And doth also direct that the places where the said tax shall be paid shall be any post office which is also a money-order office, and at the office of the Property-tax Commissioner, at the Government Buildings, Wellington; and that notice to the foregoing effect shall be given by the said Commissioner accordingly.

Revoking Orders in Council under “The Customs Regulation Act, 1858.”

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-fifth day of September, 1888.

His Excellency the Governor in Council.
WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the twenty-eighth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven, published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 40, of the same year, and made under the authority of “The Customs Regulation Act, 1858,” the exportation from New Zealand to any of the South Sea Islands of all firearms, gunpowder, munitions of war, and warlike stores was absolutely prohibited: And whereas by Order in Council dated the twenty-fifth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine, published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 119, of the same year, and made under the authority of the hereinbefore mentioned Act, the exportation of dynamite to the South Sea Islands was absolutely prohibited: And whereas it has been made to appear to His Excellency in Council that firearms, gunpowder, munitions of war, warlike stores, and dynamite are not prohibited to be exported to the South Sea Islands from any of the Australasian Colonies: And whereas the High Commissioner for the Western Pacific did, on the fifth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, in the name and on behalf of Her Britannic Majesty, make a regulation, under the provisions of the Western Pacific Order in Council of 1879, to prohibit the supply of arms, ammunition, and explosive substances to natives of the Western Pacific Islands, which said regulation was published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 73, of 1884: And whereas by “The Customs Duties Consolidation Act, 1882,” it is, among other things, enacted that, notwithstanding the repeal of “The Customs Regulation Act, 1858,” all Orders in Council issued or made under the said repealed Act, and in force at the commencement of “The Customs Duties Consolidation Act, 1882,” should continue in force as if the same had been issued or made under the authority of the last-mentioned Act; and also that any Order in Council prohibiting the exportation of any goods shall be revocable at any time: And whereas it is expedient to revoke the two Orders in Council first hereinbefore mentioned:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the hereinbefore in part recited authority, and of all other powers enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby revoke and determine the said respective Orders in Council dated the twenty-eighth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven, and the twenty-fifth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine.
