A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the forty-fourth section of “The Land Act, 1885,” it is enacted that the Governor, by Proclamation in the Gazette, may from time to time establish and define, abolish, alter, or reconstitute local districts for the sale or disposal of land, and in like manner from time to time may appoint Land Officers or other persons for conducting sales of land in such local districts, and for receiving applications for the sale, letting, disposal, or occupation of Crown lands, and for generally carrying into effect the provisions of the said Act:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint
SIDNEY WEETMAN
to be the Land Officer, in the place of Edward Henry Featon, from the thirteenth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, for conducting sales of land and for receiving applications for the sale, letting, and disposal or occupation of Crown lands, and for generally carrying into effect the provisions of the said Act within the Poverty Bay Local Land District, as established by Proclamation under my hand, dated the twenty-eighth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and eighty.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twentieth day of September, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.

Licensing Districts redefined.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the sixth section of “The Licensing Act, 1881,” it is enacted that the Governor shall, as soon as conveniently may be after the commencement of the said Act, by Proclamation in the Gazette, from time to time define districts to be licensing districts under the said Act, and from time to time may alter and redefine the boundaries of the same:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, alter and redefine the boundaries of the Foxton and Awahou Licensing Districts, which shall, from and after the first day of October next, be those respectively described in the First Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
Foxton Licensing District comprises all that area known as the Borough of Foxton, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 25, of the 19th April, 1888.
Awahou Licensing District comprises all that area in the County of Manawatu known as the Ridings of Waitohi, Campbell, Carnarvon, and Kawakawa, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 48, of the 21st July, 1887; and the Riding of Awahou, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 63, of the 28th November, 1876, excluding the Borough of Foxton.

Te Aro Licensing District.—All that portion of the Borough of Wellington known as the Te Aro Ward of the City of Wellington.
Wellington Cook District.—All that portion of the Borough of Wellington known as the Cook Ward of the City of Wellington.

Sheriffs’ Districts redefined.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred on me by “The Sheriffs Act, 1883,” and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby alter and redefine the boundaries of the Sheriff’s District of Southland and the Sheriff’s District of Otago, and do proclaim and declare that the same shall, from and after the first day of October next, be those described in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
THE SHERIFF’S DISTRICT OF SOUTHLAND.
ALL that area in the Provincial District of Otago bounded towards the north by a right line from the mouth of the Awarua River, in Big Bay, in the direction of Mount Aspiring, to a point at which it is intersected by a line drawn due north from Cosmos Peak; thence towards the east by the latter line to the said Cosmos Peak; thence towards the north-east generally by the northern and western watersheds of Lake Wakatipu, over David Peaks, Round Peaks, the Thomson Mountains, Mount Lookup, and Hummock Peak to Eyre Peak; thence by a right line to the nearest source of the Mataura River; thence by that river to a point in line with the southern boundary-line of Wendon Survey District; thence again towards the north by the said survey district to the south-eastern corner of Section No. 7, Block III.; thence towards the north-west generally by the said Section No. 7, and Section No. 10, Block VIII., Wendon Survey District, to the north-eastern corner of the latter section: thence by the watershed of the western branch of the Waikaka River, over Trig. Stations C, FF, and G, Wendon Survey District, to Trig. Station K (Black Umbrella); thence
