FIRST- AND SECOND-CLASS LANDS.

WANGAHEU-THURAU BLOCK.

Unsurveyed: Blocks XIV. and IV., Mangaone Survey Dis-
trict, and Blocks II. and III., Kopuaranga Survey District;
3,500 acres, first- and second-class land; cash price, Β£1 to
10s. per acre.

Description of Land: This area forms part of the Wangaehu-
Thuraua Block, fronting on Dreyer's rock-road extension and
the Mangamahoe road-line north of Perry's clearing. The
country is hilly, the soil fair to good, resting on papa and
sandstone formation, with limestone in places; and is covered
throughout with mixed forest, comprising rimu, rata, tawa,
tawhero, matai, hinau, maire, &c., and the usual under-
growth. The access is by Dreyer's rock-road, which is now
being extended as a horse-road, and by the Mangamahoe
surveyed line, both of which connect with the Wellington-
Eketahuna railway-line, and coach-road near Mauriceville
and Mangamahoe.

SECOND-CLASS LANDS.

WAIHOKI-MAKOURA BLOCK.

Blocks VIII. and XII., Puketoi, and Blocks V. and IX.,
Aohanga Survey Districts; 5,500 acres; price, 10s. per
acre for cash.

Description of Land: This block is situated adjacent to
the properties of Messrs. Tiverton and Leech, between the
Pakowhai and the Waitawhiti Valleys, and along the course
of the Waikarahia Stream, and comprises generally hilly
lands, covered with forest or scrub. The soil is of fair
quality, and the lands suitable for pastoral purposes when
cleared, &c.

DRY RIVER, MAKARA BLOCK.

Blocks IV., VIII., and XII., Haurangi, and Blocks V., IX.,
and XIII., Waipawa Survey Districts; 15,000 acres; price,
7s. 6d. to 10s. per acre for cash.

Description of Land: This block is situated at the back of
the runs and estates of Messrs. Coleman Phillips, Harris,
Wrattan, and Charles Pharazyn, and comprises high hills,
intersected by narrow valleys and gullies, through which run
branches of the Blue Rock, Raukokopatuna, and Makara
Rivers. There are some flats along the streams. The soil
varies from poor to good. The forest consists mainly of
birch, but there are areas of mixed forest, including rimu,
hinau, and matai trees, with a few patches of totara. The
only means of access is by the Martinborough-Awhia dray-
road, as far as Big Hill, thirteen miles, and thence by
surveyed road-lines to the eastern boundary of the block.

Valley Public Cemetery.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in me by the sixth section of "The Cemeteries
Act, 1882," I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint
the several persons whose names are specified in the first
column of the Schedule hereto to be Trustees to provide for
the maintenance and care of the public cemetery specified
in the second column of the said Schedule.

point on the western side of the public
road through the said section distant
1217 links from its northern boundary.
Bounded towards the east by the said
road, 1000 links; thence by a line at
right angles, 500 links; thence by a
line parallel with the eastern bound-
ary, 1000 links; and thence by a line
to the commencing-point, 500 links:
be all the aforesaid linkages a little
more or less; as the same is delineated
on the plan deposited in the office of
the Chief Surveyor, Blenheim.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this twenty-fifth day of August, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-eight.
