me by the said Act, alter and redefine the boundaries of the
Birkenhead Licensing District, which shall, from and after
the thirty-first day of August instant, be those described in
the First Schedule hereto; and do hereby proclaim and
define the part of the colony mentioned and described in the
Second Schedule hereto to be, from and after the said thirty-
first day of August instant, an ordinary licensing district for
the purposes of the said Act.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
WAITEMATA COUNTY.
Birkenhead Licensing District.—All that area in the County
of Waitemata, bounded towards the north-east and east
generally by a right line from the easternmost corner of
Section No. 305, Parish of Pukeatua, to the north-western
corner of Section No. 36, Parish of Paremoremо; thence by
the northern and eastern boundary-lines of the latter section,
the northern and eastern boundary-lines of Section No. 33 of
the said Parish of Paremoremо to the south-eastern corner
of that section; thence by a right line to the westernmost
corner of Section No. 200, Parish of Takapuna; thence by
the last-mentioned section and its south-western boundary-
line produced to the middle of the road; thence by a line
along the middle of the road to a point in line with the south-
western boundary-line of Section No. 232; thence by a right
line to the north-western corner of the last-mentioned
section; thence by Section No. 232 aforesaid and Section
No. 241, across a road, and by Sections Nos. 243, 105, 106, 107,
across a road, and by Sections Nos. 102, 94, 95, and 96,
across a road, and by Sections Nos. 13, 12, 11, 7, and 55, all
of the said Parish of Takapuna, to Waitemata Harbour;
towards the south-west generally by the Borough of Birken-
head, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 24, 12th
April, 1888, by Hellyer's Creek, and again by Waitemata
Harbour; and towards the north-west by Lucas's Creek to
the commencement of the road forming the eastern boundary
of Section No. 299 of the said Parish of Pukeatua; thence
by that road and the road forming the south-eastern
boundaries of Sections Nos. 300, 301, and 305 of the last-
mentioned parish to the place of commencement.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
Birkenhead Borough Licensing District.—All that area
known as the Borough of Birkenhead, as described in the
New Zealand Gazette No. 24, 12th April, 1888.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General
in Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of
the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael
and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honour-
able Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, at the Government House, at Wel-
ington, this twenty-ninth day of August, in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-eight.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the third section of "The Land
Act Amendment Act, 1887" (hereinafter termed "the said
Act"), I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of
the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is
provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated
in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection,
after the lapse of a period of forty-five days from the date of
the first public notification hereof, in the manner and upon
the conditions mentioned in the said Act, and at the price
per acre respectively set under such land in the said
Schedule.
SCHEDULE.
UNsurveyed LAND.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
RODNEY COUNTY.
All that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District,
situate in Blocks XI., Tauhoa Survey District, and IX.,
Mahurangi Survey District, and containing approximately
850 acres. Bounded towards the north by a right line
running due east to the westernmost angle of Section No. 39
of the Parish of Kourawhero; towards the north-east
generally by Sections Nos. 39, 33, and 55 of the same parish;
towards the south-east by the north-western boundary of
the Parish of Ahuroa; towards the south-west by Sections
Nos. 78, 79, and 80 of the Parish of Komokoriki; and
towards the west by a right line running due north from the
northernmost angle of the last-mentioned section to the
point of commencement.
Cash price, 10s. per acre.
Description of Land: Rough forest country, soil fair.
All that parcel of land situate in the Auckland Land
District, Parish of Hoteo, and County of Rodney, contain-
ing by admeasurement 940 acres, more or less. Bounded
towards the north by Section No. 56, Parish of Hoteo, and
by a line; towards the east by Section No. 52, Parish of
Hoteo aforesaid; towards the south and south-west by a
line, by a road, and by Section No. 53 of the aforesaid
parish; and towards the west by Section No. 54, Parish of
Hoteo before mentioned.
Cash price, 10s. per acre.
Description of Land: Broken forest country, soil pretty
fair.
BAY OF ISLANDS COUNTY.
All that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District,
situate in Blocks VI., VII., X., and XI., Kerikeri Survey
District, and containing approximately 4,640 acres. Bounded
towards the north-east by Crown land formerly known as the
Otaha Block, and by the Kapiro Stream; towards the east
by the Kerikeri Inlet; towards the south by the Kerikeri
Inlet and the Waipapa Stream; and towards the west by
Block XII., Kaeo Survey District, to the point of commence-
ment.
Cash price, 10s. per acre.
Description of Land: Undulating to level open land, soil
old volcanic, fronting on Kerikeri River.
WHANGAREI COUNTY.
All that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District,
situate in the Parish of Waipu, and containing approxi-
mately 460 acres. Bounded towards the east generally by
the Waipu River, by Section No. 202 of the Parish of Waipu,
and by a public road; towards the south-west by a public
road and by Sections Nos. 28 and 37 of the Parish of Waipu
aforesaid; and towards the north-west by Section No. 27 of
the Parish of Waipu to the point of commencement.
Cash price, 10s. per acre.
Description of Land: Open, mostly swampy land.

this twenty-eighth day of August, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-eight.
